Associate Director - Academic and Career Integration (Student Services Professional 2 -MR09)

The Associate Director provides focused direction towards the integration of career development into the academic and curricular activities of the University. Efforts to engage faculty to initiate collaborative partnerships, align learning outcomes and career readiness competencies, and support student career development through course activities, syllabi, and internships will be pursued. This position supervises the Unit's Career Counselor and coordinating class presentations are also assigned responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Engage faculty and College-based staff in consultation, needs assessment, collaboration, and direct service to integrate career development into academic activities; examples of this type of engagement will include, but not be limited to, recommending means by which course and academic program outcomes might be aligned to career readiness competencies and the development of a flexible framework supporting internships and experiential learning, among others (this work will only be successful if pursued in an open and collaborative manner.)

Research, compile, and share content with campus partners (namely faculty, staff, and students) that will empower integrated learning especially considering career readiness competencies (the identification, development, and articulation of key knowledge, skills, and abilities frequently cited by employers and groups of employers), examples of these competencies include, but are not limited to, career & self-development, communication, critical thinking, equity & inclusion, leadership, professionalism, teamwork, and technology; develop programming and resources to advance this integration through student-employment programs (e.g., Moc GROW, Guided Reflection on Work).

Provide direction and supervision to the Unit's Career Counselor including goal setting and support, performance evaluation and ongoing professional development.

Identify professional associations at the state, regional, and national levels to acquire and leverage continuous thought leadership and best practices to benefit the University through the student experience; maintain awareness of trends in higher education, career services, and workforce development and the resulting impact on UTC's population of students, academic programs, and alumni; active and ongoing participation in these groups is anticipated.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Ability to foster collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders, especially faculty and academic leaders
• Ability to value, appreciate, and respect diverse experiences and backgrounds
• Ability to lead and facilitate campus and community partnerships positively and effectively
• Ability to gather input (data), synthesize insights, and develop a structured plan to impact results
• Ability to collect, interpret, and report on programmatic assessment

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in relevant field; two years of professional experience within an educational setting (college/university, secondary education, or community agency); experience with project management, resource management and staff supervision.

Preferred Qualifications: More than two years of direct experience involved in either College/University Career Services programming or curricular development within a secondary or higher education setting; direct experience partnering with faculty and staff on course development, learning outcome assessment, design of interventions, and developing structures supporting internships and co-operative education programs.
