Manhattan College is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to act as the inaugural Chair of faculty of our new department of nursing. The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for leading the new department of nursing in recruiting faculty, developing and implementing new programs, recruiting students, and marketing, managing, evaluating, and improving programs to ensure that outcomes are met and sustained. The Chair will be a member of the faculty and will report to the Dean of the School of Health Professions. This is a 12 month position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Directs program development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement to ensure program outcomes are achieved and sustained. Monitors existing programs.
Ensures compliance with all grant, regulatory, accreditation, and licensing/certification requirements, including submission of annual and other reports.
Performs all duties inherent in supervision, which includes but not limited, to the following: Recommends and/or approves all personnel actions, hiring, promotions, transfers, terminations, and disciplinary actions. Also approves/disapproves leave, schedules work assignments and conducts performance evaluations.
Performs research to develop programs to respond to high demand in the industry and community-based organizations.
Develops long and short-term goals and objectives for nursing programs, including proposed additional nursing programs and a timeline for their development and launching.
Prepares and administers budgets a pro formas for new and existing programs. Develops, reviews, and monitors grant budgets and prepares related reports. Works with administration to develop strategies for increasing outside financial support for the program.
Collaborates with others to develop, market and present programs, events, workshops, and seminars.
Coordinates technology needs assessment with Information Technology and establishes priority list.
Maintains healthy relationships with community partners. Holds program advisory board meetings at least twice annually.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum development
Comprehensive knowledge of budget planning and management.
Working knowledge of purchasing guidelines.
In-depth knowledge of student development.
Excellent skills in leadership and personnel management, supervision, staff development, team building, resolution of personnel issues, hiring, and conducting performance appraisals.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to understand and cause understanding, motivate, develop, and persuade others.
Sound decision-making skills and the ability to respond to critical matters effectively.
Superior service skills and commitment to higher education.
Skill in using a personal computer and associated software programs.
Demonstrated ability to strategically plan and implement programs.
Ability to organize and direct major work operations and work under pressure of deadlines.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, and the public.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Earned doctoral degree in nursing or related field
Current unencumbered license to practice nursing in New York State
Three years of related experience.
One year of supervisory experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Five or more years related experience.
Knowledge of regulations and policies related to nursing education- accrediting agencies, New York Department of Education and Board of Nursing
Demonstrated scholarship in nursing or a related field

Salary range $110,000-145,000 for 12 months, depending on experience and qualification
