The Workforce Skills Fab Lab Teacher:
Nazareth Prep seeks a Workforce Skills Fab Lab Teacher who will be responsible for the operation of the Fabrication Lab, instruction in the lab space, instructional support, and community outreach. The Nazareth Prep Fab Lab program supports students in developing the soft and hard skills to participate in emerging additive technology and manufacturing careers. The Fab Lab also helps students develop highly transferable critical thinking and creative thinking skills applicable in a number of career fields.
The Fab Lab Teacher facilitates meaningful career-based exposure, hands-on activities, and STEM integrated learning across the curriculum to prepare students for 21st century careers. The successful candidate will use inquiry-based learning and teaching models to provide a platform that weaves together technology, analysis, logic, and innovation in the service of helping students develop robust workforce skill sets.

Workforce Skills Fab Lab Teacher Professional Duties:
Within the school wide vocation seminar curriculum, teach high school curriculum-based, quarterly units on design thinking, robotics in the fab lab, fabrication technologies in medicine and health care, fabrication technologies in construction and allied fields and fabrication technologies in science and engineering industries.
Assess and evaluate student work products for grading and narrative progress reports.
Oversee the operation of the Fab Lab and the development of programs and services which meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, to improve the teaching of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).
Support teachers in developing curriculum units that integrate STEM-based Fab Lab lessons into core courses in humanities, math and science.
Conduct workshops and summer classes for migrant children, youth participating in community outreach programs and middle and high school students participation in STEM summer camps.
Teach fabrication classes, woodworking applications and 3D Print and Laser technology, as well as new technology in related fields and entrepreneurship.
Support academic classes, school project-based learning work and internship partnerships with design assistance with developing new or existing products in the lab. Partner with teachers to facilitate classes, workshops, classroom activities, and demonstrations and community outreach events.
Lead staff, interns, and volunteers working in the Fab Lab and manage their training on the use of the Fab Lab software, computers, and manufacturing equipment.
Continuously develop the Fab Lab curriculum to include emerging technologies such as, robotics, drones, game design, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality.
Maintain and troubleshoot fabrication equipment.
Maintain safety and lab use records.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree. Experience in a fabrication lab or experience with fabrication technologies in a related professional industry. Experience in carpentry and experience with fabrication equipment such as a vinyl printer/cutter, laser etcher/cutter, CNC mill, CNC plasma is a plus. Willingness to learn new technologies and to participate in continuing education in STEM and workforce development. Sensitivity to the ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds of the student body. Must have strong general management, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
