Muscatine Community College is seeking a full-time Student Engagement and Residential Life Coordinator. This is a required live on-campus position.

Position Summary:
Responsible for fostering a safe, supportive, vibrant, and inclusive campus community. The role focuses on enhancing student engagement, promoting student success, and supporting the personal and academic development of students by managing the student engagement and campus housing at MCC. This is a required live on-campus position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Required to live on-campus at Muscatine Community College.
Demonstrated work experience in College Student Services, Activities, Residential Life, or other relevant field.
Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills.
Proficiency in using computer software and systems for record keeping, scheduling, and communication.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse individuals and groups.
Committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of student engagement and campus housing.
Ability to work full-time 40 hours weekly: flexible hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Education or a related field. Combination of experience and education may be considered.
Knowledge of student development theory, engagement strategies, and best practices in higher education.
Experience using Canva, or other design software for the creation of engaging materials.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Residential Life Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Nyweide-Scott apartments, including managing student moves, resolving student concerns and interpersonal conflicts between students, monitoring maintenance requests, and managing RA duty schedules.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols, emergency procedures, and building codes. Monitor and address security concerns or incidents, in collaboration with student staff, professional staff or faculty.
Hire, train and supervise a team of resident advisors. Provide ongoing guidance, training, performance feedback, and support to maintain a productive and cohesive team.
Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere in the Nyweide-Scott apartments. Address student concerns, resolve conflicts and provide assistance in a timely manner,
Maintain accurate records and reports related to hall operations, maintenance, incidents, and institutional compliance.
Document policy violations and serve as the first line of the institution’s student conduct process by performing low-level investigations.
Primary responsible for being on-call for housing emergencies and working in collaboration with campus or community partners.
Student Engagement Responsibilities:
Assist with New Student Orientations, campus tours, and college events as required.
Develop, plan, organize, promote, and implement a robust schedule of campus events throughout the academic year.
Develop activities that support the core values of EICC including Discovery, Social Justice, Belonging, Collaboration and Caretaking.
Develop, plan, organize, promote, and implement campus activities that promote the nation, state, and local region’s diverse, cultural influence. Assist in planning and implementing district-wide activities and events to celebrate important cultural celebrations.
Serve as the primary liaison to student organizations, and their advisors to create active, engaged, and growing student organizations.
Encourage and facilitate student leadership opportunities, including student government, clubs, and organizations, Develop and deliver leadership training programs to enhance students’ interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
Serve as a resource and advocate for students, providing guidance, referrals, and support for academic, personal, and social matters. Maintain and support campus basic needs programs including the campus grab-and-go food program.
Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
Physical Requirements:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasionally required to move or transport (life) items weighing up to 50 pounds
Physical activity bend, stoop, kneel, reach, sit, stand, walk and perform moderate physical activity for extended periods of time.
