Menlo School is looking for a part-time Robotics Club Coach to support our Upper School robotics teams throughout the academic year and during competition season. The coach will meet with the teams on Wednesdays from 3PM to 5PM and Saturdays from 2PM-6PM most weeks, plus additional time for competitions. Competitions typically take place on Saturdays and run from early morning until late evening. State Competition events run from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Interact with students, parents, staff and the community
Order materials and resources to meet the needs of all robotics teams
Coordinate with the school and the student teams to schedule competitions over the course of the season
Take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
For competitions, ride with the team on school provided transportation or drive a school-provided van to events
Provide instructional support to help the teams design, build, and optimize their robots
Help the teams manage group dynamics and the intricacies of teamwork on a complex building and design project
Help club leadership to recruit and support novice robotics students interested in joining the team
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of robot design, building, and optimization
Familiarity with basic hand tools
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all constituents
Demonstrated professional behavior, including discretion, judgment, integrity and self-reflection
Valid California driver’s license, maintaining a clean driving record, and ability to drive students in school-provided vehicles
All prospective employees must be able to clear a LiveScan fingerprinting background check and TB screening before the start of employment

Pay range:
In the spirit of pay transparency we share the base salary range for this position for the 2023-2024 academic year. The full pay range, which encompasses all experience levels is $35.00 to $70.00 per hour. Within this broad range, we pay each employee in accordance with what could be reasonably expected based on an individual's experience level. Base salary is exclusive of fringe benefits, retirement plan employer contributions or potential stipends (for eligible employees). Pay ranges at Menlo are reasonable estimates of what the School anticipates paying for a role but are not guaranteed. If hired at Menlo School, your final base salary will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, job level, part-time status and number of months of work per academic year. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity with our current employees as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the generous range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical for Menlo School in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
