Gender Based Violence Prevention Education Specialist will report to the Chief Diversity Officer in the Office of Inclusive Excellence. In Collaboration with the Chief Diversity Officer and the Title IX, the Gender-Based Violence Prevention Education Specialist will use theory-driven and evidence-informed practices to foster safe, supportive, and inclusive learning and living environments at Gonzaga University. Gender Based Violence Prevention Education Specialist will focus on creating opportunities that promote the prevention of interpersonal and gender-based violence through university and community partnerships. This position is responsible for creating, implementing, and evaluating prevention efforts, as well as developing meaningful partnerships, education, training, and prevention programming campus wide. These efforts will be related to the prevention of sexual violence, including sexual assault, dating /domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment, consent, incapacitation, and healthy relationships.
This position also collaborates with other university and community partners to assist the OIE and the Title IX Coordinator in the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for interpersonal & gender-based violence prevention and education at Gonzaga University. The Gender Based Violence Prevention Education Specialist will work with all necessary Campus partners, including Academic and Student Affairs, Human Resources, Faculty Senate, Staff Senate, the Health and Counseling Center, Housing and Residence Life, Athletics, Disability Access, and community organizations such as LCS Northwest and the YWCA, and other administrative offices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required in a relevant field such as health education, public health, community health, health promotion, social work, psychology, or related degree.
2 or more years providing effective interpersonal & gender-based violence prevention services on a college campus or community setting.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of:
Prevention programs related to interpersonal & gender-based violence prevention (including sexual health)
Title IX, Campus SaVE Act, Dear Colleague Letter, Clery, and other relevant laws and regulations, specifically as they pertain to prevention and education efforts
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and creating inclusive environments
Demonstrated ability to:
Communicate well, both verbally and in writing
Work collaboratively and effectively at various levels of a complex organization.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Experience training, supervising, and evaluating peer educators.
Successful grant writing and implementation
Demonstrated experience implementing and assessing effective, evidence-based prevention in a college environment.
