The Center for Student Success promotes student learning, academic engagement, and timely degree completion through the coordination of peer-based academic support programs. The Center fosters student persistence and enhanced individualized student outcomes through timely communication between faculty, staff, and students.
Coordinate and provide day-to-day oversight and coordination of the Center for Student Success Tutorial Services, Supplemental Instruction and Coaching Services
Lead efforts to oversee the Center for Student Success student staff, including Subject Tutors, Supplemental Instruction Leaders, Graduate Assistants and other student support staff, including marketing, recruiting, training, providing constructive feedback and monitoring performance
Partner with academic areas for the effective coordination of support and services
Partner with Institutional Research to gather and review information to provide data-informed strategy that prioritizes support for foundational and other developmental courses which have been identified to be historically challenging for students based on student outcomes (high DFW rates)
In partnership with supervisor(s) and campus partners, teach and/or assist with tutor training course (INT 193)
In partnership with supervisor(s), obtain and maintain appropriate certifications and accreditation, including the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) certification, International Center for Supplemental Instruction (ICSI) certification and others
Assist with efforts in marketing and outreach to students, including orientation events, tabling events, workshops, departmental collaboration efforts, student staff training events and other outreach services
Work collaboratively with Starfish team and other early alert services on campus
Support the Center's vision to be a mission-driven, data-informed set of integrated academic support services that support student learning, persistence, and on-time degree completion, with a focus on supporting populations which may experience particular barriers to learning and student success

Qualifications:
Required:
Master's degree in a relevant field
One to three years' experience related to the provision of academic support services in a college setting or equivalent
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A strong service orientation with evidence of the ability to positively interact with students, families, staff and instructors
A clear understanding of the variety of challenges facing college students today
A demonstrated ability to operate independently, resourcefully, and to execute on deadline
A demonstrated commitment toward inclusive excellence and the demonstrated ability to mentor a diverse undergraduate student staff
Evidence of ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
A facility with Microsoft Office Suite programs
This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours as needed to fulfill the professional obligation for this position.
Preferred:
Master's in higher education administration or equivalent
Experience with CRLA Certification
Tutoring and/or teaching experience
Knowledge of composition/writing theory applied to multiple disciplines
Knowledge of learning/student development theory and techniques (i.e., Socratic questioning)
A strengths-oriented approach to student leadership development, and the demonstrated ability to use data to drive services and programming
A working understanding and sensitivity to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Knowledge of student information systems such as Banner, DegreeWorks, and a familiarity with retention tools such as Starfish
Fluency in a language other than English.
A facility with social media (and its use in marketing) and Microsoft Office Suite programs is preferred
A solutions-focused attitude and an understanding of current best practices in academic support services.
