The Sexuality & Gender Diversity Coordinator is responsible for serving as key support, advocate, and accomplice to women students and LGBTQ+ students, while supporting the vision and mission of the Center for Student Diversity and the Office of Inclusion and Institutional Equity. This position ensures that support, services, and resources are provided that contribute to and address the intellectual, social, and developmental needs of women students and LGBTQ+ students. The Sexuality & Gender Diversity Coordinator will also work collaboratively with other Center for Student Diversity and Office of Inclusion and Institutional Equity staff to implement strategic diversity, equity and inclusion priorities that ensure a true sense of belonging for diverse sexual and gender identity communities at Towson University.
Responsibilities for the Sexuality & Gender Diversity Coordinator include, but are not limited to the following:
Works to create, monitor, and assess an inclusive campus environment for students of diverse gender and sexual identities, using an intersectional lens
Collaborates with a broad range of campus and community partners to develop and execute a calendar of programs and initiatives that support and advocate for women students and LGBTQ+ students, including the Women in Leadership Conference
Coordinates, develops, and promotes print, online, and social media content that promote support and advocacy for women students and LGBTQ+ students, ensuring they are aligned with campus diversity, equity and inclusion strategic priorities
Collaborates with, supports, mentors, and/or advises student organizations focused on gender equity and LGBTQ+ populations, including Feminist Collective, Queer Student Union, In the Life, and GenderBlur
Assists with the development and implementation of assessment tools that evaluate participant learning outcomes; uses feedback and data to improve and expand support and advocacy for populations served by the Center for Student Diversity
Supervises one or more graduate assistants and undergraduate students serving as peer educators, mentors, interns, and other office student workers
Represents the Office of Inclusion and Institutional Equity and Center for Student Diversity on departmental, divisional, and university-wide committees
Assists with other duties within the Center for Student Diversity and Office of Inclusion and Institutional Equity as assigned
Work hours for this position may include some evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree
Three years of experience working with diverse populations
Knowledge of higher education, student development theories, and best practices
Commitment to continuous learning, research, and best practices in the field of diversity, equity and inclusion
Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and community partners
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Social Work, Cultural Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, LGBTQ Studies, or a closely related field
