Position Information Under the direction of the Director of Graduate Academic Affairs, incumbent will advise and assist faculty, staff, and students in all graduate degree programs. Must understand and apply all policies and procedures pertaining to requirements for higher degrees and work to resolve issues that arise. Responsible for performing degree checks, award graduate degrees, review theses and dissertations for proper formatting, approve qualifying exam and dissertation/thesis committees. Responsible for processing graduate student petitions including enrollment adjustments, directed studies, waive/substitute/transfer course work, and others. Incumbent will also assist with graduate commencement organization before and during the ceremony, website and procedure document updates and work with graduate division staff and/or department staff on ad-hoc projects.
The full salary range for the Student Academic Advisor 3 is $52,100 - $89,700. However, the expected pay scale for this position up to $65,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Thorough knowledge of department/school college policies, procedures, and requirements. Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving. Abilities in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems. Ability to multi-task. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening. Excellent analytical skills for evaluation, analysis and interpretation. Ability to work cooperatively with others and meet demanding schedules and timelines.
Preferred Qualifications Thorough knowledge of college/school policies, procedures, and requirements.
Working knowledge of federal regulations as they apply to FERPA.
Knowledge of UC system-wide, Academic Senate and Graduate Council regulations regarding graduate academic affairs.
Knowledge of Banner and File Maker Pro
A detailed knowledge and understanding of University and campus policies, procedures and processes pertaining to graduate education.
