JOB SUMMARY
The division of Planning, Real Estate and Facilities (PREF) with Northeastern University is responsible for development, planning, construction, delivery, management and maintenance of university's physical campus environments - its academic, research and administrative spaces, buildings and campus infrastructure, and the surrounding landscape. The responsibilities expand across all domestic and global campuses.
Within PREF, the Space Information Systems Manager position is part of a centralized team that provides services in support of all IT platforms and applications used by the division in addition to leading functions of Space Management, GIS, BIM, data and BI analytics, and project controls. The position will be part of a growing team that leads multiple interdepartmental and cross-departmental initiatives aiming for digital transformation and advancement of technologies used by the university.
The Space Information System Manager is responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance of space data, the software and systems to maintain it, and the insightful analysis and reporting of this data in support of functions within the division and across the university such as college stakeholders, Provost, Chancellor, Student Affairs and Residential Life. This includes developing workflows for routine and regular updating of base floor plans and spatial data in the AutoCAD and university's IWMS environments (ARCHIBUS), enriching the existing data with new datasets and connections with other data sources, generating impactful and innovative reporting targeting variety of user groups and business needs. This manager maintains strong service-oriented relationships with clients and stakeholders across the university to ensure they are provided with the access, data, and analysis accuracy they need to effectively manage their area of responsibility. Provide training, system access and support for user groups and recommend enhancements to the functionalities of IWMS or utilization of other available platforms to enable modern management of this function in line with the university's business need in this area. In line with the direction of other existing and upcoming platforms in the division, this position is required to work toward integration of IWMS with BIM and GIS environments to enable functions such as asset management and indoor navigation in addition to enhanced data and reporting workflows. Analytics and advanced reporting using cloud data analytics platform is another exciting opportunity for the Space Information Systems Manager to integrate and promote the critical function of space management with other organizational needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally obtained through a Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering or Planning, Computer & Information Science or Business. Demonstrated experience working with AutoCAD and Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS)
Familiarity with relational databases and reporting
Familiarity with BIM principles and application in the field of facilities management; Knowledge of Revit is a plus
Knowledge of software commonly used for facilities design, management, and maintenance services in a modern campus environment such as IWMS platforms (ARCHIBUS preferred)
Knowledge and familiarity with GIS are preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
1) Coordinate the acquisition and management of space data and floor plans. Perform data quality analysis to maintain a high level of system accuracy. Update spatial data and CAD graphics in IWMS.
2) Manage service-oriented relationships with clients, provide training, documentation and technical support.
3) Develop and enhance system functionalities (with help of consultants), functionalities for integration with other platforms and business functions, advise on use of space data across the university.
4) Planned and ad-hoc reporting and analytics.
