Position Summary: Under the direction of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Dean of Students, the Director of Student Involvement is responsible for the administration, implementation, promotion and assessment of student programs and student involvement opportunities for the organization including the, Associated Students of the University of Idaho (ASUI), Volunteer & Leadership Programs, Student Media, Student Sustainability Cooperative, Vandal Entertainment, and Student Clubs & Organizations, registered and affiliated, and the Vandal Food Pantry; establish and administrate programs that meet the institution's co-curricular student learning needs, collaborate with campus wide entities in the development of programs that meets the institution's student development efforts, and that sustain the vibrancy of student life through student involvement; mentor/train and establish connections with students that facilitate co-curricular programs and provide students learning opportunities and leadership skills. The director will advise and oversee the financial aspects of these departments in collaboration with the Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, and the Director of Admin & Fiscal Operations; supervise and guide the professional staff responsible for program implementation in the areas of responsibility; collaborate and create partnerships with off-campus entities to develop and organize community based program initiatives for students that enhance student involvement and learning; responsible for the creation and development of unit and department policies, budgets, strategic plans, and overall operating philosophies; serve as a member and advisor of the Idaho Student Union Board ; and student involvement committees as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in education, psychology, communication, or business.
Five years experience working in an educational environment with students, faculty and administrators in a higher education setting.
Developing, coordinating and promoting student engagement programs.
Experience identifying, assessing, developing and presenting leadership programs and training activities.
Interpreting and applying rules, laws and regulations.
Experience with conflict management, supervisory practices and working with groups.
Establishing and maintaining working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators and public, private and governmental offices and agencies.
Using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches, spreadsheet software, presentations, and data organization.
Operating and exercising independent judgment and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration or related area.
Experience as a professional in college Student Affairs.
Experience in higher education advising.
Experience in student development theory.
Knowledge of educational and learning processes.
