Position Summary:
The Counselor will work in the Yeshiva University Counseling Center and will provide individual therapy, crisis intervention and group therapy to undergraduate and graduate students. The Counselor will also participate in outreach programs at the University, as well as in staff meetings and workshops. This is a one year post-doctoral position and the incumbent will receive supervision toward licensure.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide direct clinical services including individual psychotherapy, group therapy, referrals and crisis intervention
Provide consultation services to faculty and staff as needed
Assist with outreach programs to students on campus
Maintain an assigned caseload of patients
Will receive at least one hour a week individual and one hour a week group supervision toward licensure
Maintain clinical records in compliance with State and Federal regulatory agency requirements and program policies and procedures
Perform other related duties as assigned
Experience & Educational Background:
Pre-doctoral internship completed prior to start date, and should have completed all coursework towards degree in counseling or clinical psychology
Applicants working on the completion of a doctoral dissertation will be considered
Prior experience working in college counseling centers, with interest and experience in an area of specialty, such as eating disorders, substance abuse, women's issues or trauma preferred
Interest in positive psychology and interest in designing and implementing programs on campus
Skills & Competencies:
Candidate is required to have skills necessary to complete intakes, create treatment plans, and implement short term psychotherapy and group therapy with undergraduate students and graduate students
Candidate should have the skills to complete a suicide assessment and to be involved in crisis intervention
Candidate should have proficiency in the treatment model they use, and preferably have familiarity with more than one treatment modality, such as CBT, DBT and psychodynamic therapy
Salary Range:
$24.75 - $24.75
