Compensation: This is a full-time, live-in/on, 12-month position with an annual salary of $40,000 including full university benefits (health, retirement, etc.). A two-bedroom apartment with utilities, internet, basic cable and a cell phone is provided.

Primary Responsibilities: The primary function of this position is to provide leadership to on-campus residential areas (residence halls and/or apartments) and serve primarily in the roles of supervisor, educator, counselor, and administrator. Area Coordinators have the responsibility for developing and maintaining residential communities which foster the growth and success of Mercer students. The Area Coordinator reports directly to the Assistant Director and/or the Associate Director of Housing & Residence Life. This position will work closely with the Director, Associate Directors, Assistant Director, Area Coordinators, Resident Directors, and office staff as part of the central leadership team.
Duties:
Adheres to University and department policies, procedures and regulations.
Handles the day-to-day operations of one to five residence halls and/or apartments.
Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates one Resident Director, one senior resident assistant, and 10-15 resident assistants.
Serves as the summer school or camps and conference coordinator on a rotating basis.
Oversees hall programming efforts programs within the hall to offer students a diverse range of topics, both social and educational, at dates and times that will foster student participation and programming budget.
Maintains open lines of communication with Housing & Residence Life staff members.
Manages operational functions for residence halls such as building walkthroughs, damage assessment, room inspections, reporting and billing, maintenance requests, hall openings and closings and other administrative tasks.
Collaborates with the Office of Student Conduct and Resolution to adjudicate disciplinary cases.
Assists with resident assignments, room changes, and room consolidation processes.
Participates in the Housing & Residence Life on-call rotation for a campus of 2,900 residents.
Works closely with the Counseling and Psychological Services department, Campus Life, Mercer Police, and other campus resources.
Represents the Office of Housing and Residence Life on University committees as assigned and at University events.
Serves as a liaison for the Lofts Apartments and Fraternity and Sorority Housing.
Serves on departmental collaborative assignments (in-services, service projects, diversity committee, etc.).
Assist in the management of COVID-19 policies and procedures within Isolation Housing and meal delivery to students in isolation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field required from an accredited college/university. At least one year of Housing & Residence Life and/or Student Services strongly desired. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. A demonstrated commitment to community development within the campus environment is essential. Position requires the professional to live-in.
