The University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) invites applications for a fulltime Director of Counseling and Accessibility Services. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Development, the director provides direction and leadership for the day-to-day operations of the office, including supervision and evaluation of two staff therapists.
Responsibilities
Through initial intake assessments, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, triage to unscheduled walk-in students, and referrals to appropriate services, the director will provide short-term, solution-focused support to help facilitate the personal growth and development of USCB students. In addition, the director provides support to students with disabilities and will ensure that the federal Americans with Disability Act (ADA), applicable sections of the Rehabilitation Act, and other appropriate state and federal laws and statues pertaining to higher education and disability are followed. The director is responsible for developing, reviewing, and revising office policies and guidelines as needed. The ideal candidate will be flexible and creative, and able to manage the complexities of a small college environment and the need to provide direct service while also providing direction/supervision to others.
Master's degree in a mental health discipline (psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field), licensed or eligible to obtain a license as a mental health professional in the state of South Carolina within one year of hire, a minimum of five years counseling experience.
Preferred Qualifications
A terminal degree in counseling, psychology, social work or a related field and counseling experience in a college/university setting preferred. Prefer licensure to counsel without additional supervision in South Carolina. Experience supervising therapists. Demonstrated knowledge, sensitivity, and ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds. Strong record of operational, administrative and management experience in counseling/mental health services.
