Undergraduate Education (UE) is a unit within the MSU Provost’s Office under the leadership of the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of Undergraduate Studies. UE seeks to advance student success and learning for all undergraduate students through direct programming, policy development, research, and collaboration. Undergraduate Studies (UGS) resides in the curricular division of UE and provides leadership and professional development related to first- and second-year seminars. In addition, this team supports broad-based campus curricular reform, review, and assessment; undergraduate certificates; academic student success workshops, and associated policy development.
UE is seeking an Associate Director or Director. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Global Education and Curriculum, this position will provide leadership to campus based UGS courses in terms of course administration, instructor recruitment and development, and course assessment. In addition, they will assist the Assistant Dean in curricular administration within UE, including managing access and response to MSU’s curricular systems (e.g., transfer student requests, grade changes, etc.), collaborating with the Honors College to implement their research seminar, and supporting the administration of the Military Science and Aerospace Studies courses in partnership with the ROTC programs. Successful candidates should have a strong background in first-year pedagogy, teaching and learning, and curriculum development, as well as evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
Position can work up to 40% time remote but will be expected to attend in-person staff meetings, professional development, and other committee work.
Salary will range from $75,000 to $85,000 per year.

Minimum Requirements
Doctoral degree in higher education, student affairs or another related field and a significant track record in working with faculty and instructors from diverse disciplinary backgrounds
3 – 5 years’ experience in higher education, preferably in the areas of first-year program, teaching and learning, and/or curriculum development;
Experience with first-year experiences, seminars, or transition programs
Experience with professional development and learning outcome assessment
Ability to use data to assess and evaluate efforts to promote student success through first-year teaching and learning
Excellent communication skills; including an ability to work collaboratively and effectively with campus partners
Demonstrated ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
Computer literacy including Microsoft Office, Qualtrics, and Google Suite
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
A doctoral degree in higher education, student affairs, curriculum development or a related field;
Experience teaching and administering first-year seminars within a college or university setting;
Knowledge and experience with instructional development, curriculum development, and learning outcomes assessment;
Experience with Desire2Learn (MSU’s course management system) and other MSU data, administrative, financial, and human resource systems.
