Job Description:
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) Career Services is seeking qualified applicants for an Employer & Student Relations Coordinator (ESRC). This position will manage day-to-day operations of the LAS Career Services office, ensuring services are available and accessible to constituents (i.e., students, employers, college faculty and staff). To that end, they will serve as the first point of contact for the officeâs phone, email, and website communications; oversee services such as interview room reservations and LinkedIn headshots; and manage operations in CyHire (Symplicity), our career services management tool. CyHire duties may include approving job postings and employer registrations, activating alumni accounts, and managing recruiting event logistics. The ESRC will also supervise a team of 3-4 student interns who will support office operations.
The ESRC will be the officeâs lead on employer relations and will regularly interface with organizations who may hire interns or full-time LAS graduates. The ESRC will plan and execute large-scale, biannual career fair(s) with hundreds of employers as well as small-scale recruiting events (e.g., employer information sessions, on-campus interviews) to increase students' awareness of and readiness for opportunities, thus improving graduation outcomes. The ESRC will consult with and coach employers in a wide variety of industries/career clusters on how to hire LAS students and alumni from 50+ majors and graduate programs, explaining policies and available services while advocating for our students. The ESRC will participate in professional development to stay informed on trends and best practices in early career/college recruiting and career development.
Finally, the ESRC will be the lead on office communications and will write and distribute, in collaboration with the rest of the office, communication collaterals (e.g., email newsletters, website pages, posters, blogs, guides, and social media posts) to increase engagement with office services and connect employers and students. The ESRC will need to stay current with relevant software (e.g., social media platforms, design tools like Canva, customer relationship management (CRM) tools) and best practices for connecting with traditional-aged college students (i.e., Gen Z) while ensuring materials are inclusive of all demographics within LAS's diverse student body. The ESRC will regularly collaborate with Career Services staff in other college offices on communications, events, and other projects, representing LAS's interests while maintaining collegiality and looking for opportunities for collaboration and streamlining of processes.
The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication, event planning, database management, interpersonal, problem solving, attention to detail, and multitasking skills. The candidates will be able to prioritize multiple ongoing tasks concurrently and build professional relationships with employers, students, faculty, alumni and staff. They will need to be able to work effectively on a small team with interconnected roles and responsibilities.
