The College of Arts & Sciences' Office for Diversity Equity and inclusion (CAS-DEI) invites applications for the inaugural position of Associate Director for Education & Practice. Reporting to the Vice Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, this position will create educational opportunities intended to enhance cultural competence and engagement.
Working collaboratively with the Vice Dean, college, and campus stakeholders, the Associate Director will reimagine existing educational programs, and spearhead the development of a new college-wide DEI train-the-trainer program. The Associate Director will foster collaborative relationships with the USC Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Office for Professional Development; Office for Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA); CAS Human Resources, and other university partners.
The Associate Director will serve as the lead thought partner and conduit for innovation in practical education and sustainable skill development. The position will provide consultation and support to CAS faculty, staff, and students in the development and implementation of initiatives that advance DEI education and practice.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Master's degree and three years of work experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) affirmative action, or multicultural education and programming, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. An equivelency may include a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree and 7 years of relevant experience. Candidates should have experience in conceptualizing, organizing, and coordinating events or programs. Candidate must have a demonstrated understanding of fundamental (DEI) subject areas such as, but not limited to; implicit bias, microaggressions, allyship, and accessibility, as evidenced through academic coursework, scholarly publications, relevant programming or community engagement.
