Job Summary
The Success Coach will provide academic advising and supportive coaching services at the SKYCTC Franklin-Simpson Center, particularly emphasizing the programs unique to the campus's student population. The Success Coach will manage a caseload of students to effectively communicate with faculty, staff, and student support services and provide forward-facing, wrap-around services to advance student success in Southcentral Kentucky.
Job Duties:
Presents informative sessions at area high schools and technology centers while recruiting on behalf of SKYCTC academic programs and the specific offerings at the Franklin-Simpson Center. Introduces students to the college environment through one-on-one meetings and workshops. Review program options with students, including certificate, diploma, and degree options based on their needs and goals. Assist students with pre-enrollment activities, including Financial Aid, transcript requests, KCTCS admission applications, course selections, etc. Provide an initial assessment of the student's life goals, history, obstacles to success, and strengths. Develop an action plan identifying students' goals, desired outcomes, and steps necessary to meet those goals. Provide intrusive advising techniques in which the specialist persistently initiates contacts and establishes firm expectations for follow-through by students. Make appropriate referrals as needed to other college departments. Provide referrals to community-based organizations that address student barriers beyond academic challenges. Track individual progress and proactively provide appropriate intervention to support student success. Ensure excellent communication among the Faculty, Staff, and other community supporters. Assist the Franklin-Simpson Center Campus Director with community engagement events and wrap-around support of other departments housed at the campus. Participate in training and other professional development activities. Maintain technical competencies necessary to the job function. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in higher education, counseling, student affairs, or equivalent. Master's degree preferred. Applicant must possess excellent organizational, public speaking, customer service, and computer skills.Â
