Position Summary:
Central (Yeshiva University High School for Girls), in Queens, NY, offers a rigorous and innovative academic program that highlights best practices of education to inspire our students to become lifelong learners.
Central seeks an experienced Learning Specialist to join our Learning Center for a full-time position for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Position Responsibilities:
Work with identified students in General and Judaic studies with both push in and pull out models.
Review IEPs and create appropriate learning plans.
Communicate and meet with classroom teachers on a regular basis.
Ensure that individual student modifications are addressed.
Maintain close contact with students and families.
Design education plans for specific students.
Develop curriculum for test-taking, study skills and organizational strategies.
Participate in the Central Student Accommodations Committee.
Provide staff development, on a case by case basis or school-wide, as requested by the Head of School.
Work with outside service providers.
Serve as a liaison between Central, College Board, ACT and CSE.
Create a positive, innovative, student-based learning environment.
Participate in co-curricular school activities outside the classroom.
Motivate, encourage and inspire students to love learning and to excel to the best of their abilities.
Experience & Educational Background:
Experience with alternative teaching strategies.
NYS Certification in Special Education or related field and Secondary School Experience.
Masters in Special Education or related field preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Collaborative, flexible, and goal-oriented.
Salary Range:
$68,000-$72,000
