Job Description:
Examples of Duties Include:
Provide academic, career and personal counseling to students.
Provide advising to students on academic warning, suspension, and probation.
Serve on the college's campus assessment referral and education (CARE) crisis management team.
Collaborate with the college's Social Worker on providing basic needs resources and crisis services to students.
Provide crisis intervention and referral as needed.
Provide academic, career, and personal counseling programming to students, faculty and staff.
Work collaboratively with Student Affairs staff, as well as with instructional faculty and other campus groups, to support the College's commitment to student success.
Serve the college community through participation in campus committees.
Participate in professional development.
Required Qualifications:
Educational Requirement
Master's Degree in Counseling or Counseling Psychology.
Demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from minoritized, historically marginalized, and/or culturally diverse groups.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of counseling experience in a community college setting.
Experience working with students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
Commitment to providing culturally responsive customer service.
Strong counseling skills and an interest in providing holistic counseling to students regarding career, academic and personal concerns.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and work collaboratively with others.
Working knowledge of the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with others to achieve department and institutional goals.
Familiarity with and commitment to the mission and constituencies of a technical college.
Experience developing and using technology tools in the provision of services to students.
