Job Summary:
The SSS Advisor is a full time administrative position reporting to the Director and is employed 100% under the Federal Grant. The Advisor will be responsible for approximately 200 students and will ensure that the projects goals and objectives are met.
Essential Functions:
Review and Interview potential SSS applications for eligibility and document /verification and maintain a waitlist to refill vacancies due to attrition.
Provide information and assist students concerning academic programs, Curricula academic requirements and related policies and procedures of the program and University.
Provide on-going academic and career advisement, coaching, mentoring, and
Monitor, track and review Student progress with periodic checks (midterm grades & final grades), document student contacts.
Coordinate workshops (Study skills, financial planning & career development)
Participate in programs and services for new students (summer orientation program).
Perform other duties assigned by the Project

Coordination, planning and organizational skills
Supervisory Responsibility
The SSS advisor will work closely with one SSS graduate assistant and three college work study students when organizing workshops or events.
Work Environment
The office is in a professional office space in St. John's Hall and uses standard office equipment such as computer, printer, phone, etc.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours are Monday through Thursdays 8:30am - 4:30pm and Friday's 8:30am - 3:00pm. Occasional early morning, night, and weekend hours required for events.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related work experience.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary for this position is $58,500. St. John's University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
This position may be relocated to any of St. John's University's physical locations at any time.
