Simpson College seeks a dynamic individual to join our team as the Advisor of Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) and Area Coordinator. This newly funded position supports the work of the FSL community through advisement, recruitment. program development and evaluation, benchmarking and assessment, strategic planning and execution, and other duties that further the advancement of the FSL community at Simpson College. The community is comprised of seven residential organizations: three NPC–affiliated sororities, three nationally affiliated fraternities, and one local co-ed fraternity. This position also oversees all residential and facility matters for our five college owned residential FSL communities and directly supervises five Residence Life student-staff positions specific to the FSL residential houses, including one elevated team lead. This position is 12-month, live-on and will join the Residence Life emergency/on-call duty split with other professional staff members.
This position also supports the work of the FSL community through advisement, recruitment. program development and evaluation, benchmarking and assessment, strategic planning and execution, and other duties that further the advancement of the FSL community at Simpson College. Simpson College is a vibrant four-year private college affiliated with the United Methodist Church and located in Indianola, Iowa. Simpson’s full residential community houses around 90 percent of the college’s full-time population of approximately 1100 students. Indianola has a population of around 16,000 and is just 12 miles south of Des Moines.
Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred but not required. Previous first-hand chapter FSL leadership required. Position is 12-month, live-on. Remuneration includes an on-campus apartment, laundry, partners and pets permitted, office separate from living quarters, meal plan (while school is in session), utilities/wired and wireless internet, competitive salary, and full benefits package.
Simpson’s 85-acre campus Indianola campus is a beautiful space and where the majority of classes are offered to their students. Located in south-central Iowa, just 12 miles south of Des Moines, Simpson’s main location gives students the best of both worlds: the friendly atmosphere of a college town with the benefit of living near an exciting metropolitan area. Indianola is host to many nationally known events, including the Des Moines Metro Opera and the National Balloon Classic, which features hot air balloons competition and family entertainment. Simpson’s second campus is located in West Des Moines, Iowa, which is a part of the Greater Des Moines metro area, and serves adult and graduate students. The West Des Moines campus is easy to access, has efficient classrooms, and an environment devoted to learning for students who likely are balancing work and family life as they return to school. Classes offered at the West Des Moines campus are targeted towards Simpson’s continuing and graduate students who are looking to take classes at night or closer to home.
