The SUNY Oswego Office of Student Conduct (OSC) seeks to become a preeminent student conduct unit that uses innovative, high-impact practices and interventions to educate students, facilitate ethical development and learning, promote a safe campus living and learning environment, and maintain high standards of student conduct. It is the mission of OSC to resolve allegations of misconduct under the SUNY Oswego Code of Conduct within a student conduct process that is fair, equitable, educational, and motivational for students' learning and development. Essential to the mission of OSC is enhancing the development of character, integrity, personal and social responsibility to foster safe, healthy, inclusive, and supportive communities at SUNY Oswego in congruence with the vision, mission and values of the Division of Student Affairs, within which OSC is situated, and the strategic priorities of SUNY Oswego.
Reporting to the Director of Student Conduct, the Assistant Director will support the administration of SUNY Oswego's student conduct process and support student success through engagement with the campus about the values and expectations of community membership. Dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming community, this position proactively encourages students on how to meet those expectations and create a better community for all.

Description of Responsibilities:
- Support departmental strategic planning, assessment and learning with Divisional and Institutional priorities. This includes improving procedures to make daily operations more efficient, inclusive, accessible, and conducive to student development.
- Assist with the overall administration of the student conduct process by managing a caseload of students and organizations referred to the Office of Student Conduct
- Assist with processing incoming incident reports, case creation, and referral to the appropriate conduct officer.
- Serve as a principal investigator for individual and organizational conduct cases by conducting witness interviews, compiling evidence, and partnering with potential campus partners.
- Serve as a liaison between the Office of Student Conduct and professional staff members designated as Conduct officers, providing oversight and support.
- Partner with the Student Engagement and Leadership, Athletics, Campus Recreation and other departments to deliver educational programming to student groups and teams on topics such as hazing prevention, risk management, restorative justice, leadership development, and the student conduct process.
- Attend and participate in Departmental & Divisional meetings.
- Serve as a Code Administrator and Hearing Board Chair as needed.
- Incorporate elements of restorative justice and restorative practices into processes, programs, and services.
- Track sanction completion and conduct follow-up on outstanding sanctions as needed.
- Utilize Maxient for processing student conduct referrals and coordinating workflow within the student conduct office.
- Identify and report on behavioral trends to guide strategic planning and continuous improvement utilizing data collected and analytics through Maxient.
- Support the recruitment, training, education and coordination of the College's hearing board members, administrative hearing officers, departmental conduct officers and student support staff by updating and creating new training materials including Student Conduct Institute offerings.
- Coordinate recognition events for hearing officers.
- Maintain a current and accurate understanding of Federal, State and Local Laws including Title IX, Clery, VAWA and associated mandates.
- Assist with annual projects such as Code revision, Clery data collection and reporting, records maintenance, assessment, and policy updates.
- Maintain effective partnerships with key departments including, Residence Life and Housing, Title IX Coordinator, Academic Deans, Associate Deans, Athletics, Counseling Services, Health Services, Registrar, Financial Aid, Office of Marketing & Communication and University Police.
- Serve on divisional and campus-wide committees as assigned and appointed.
- Participate in professional development and growth opportunities to stay current on higher education law, student development and student learning research, theory and practice that best serve the needs of students.
- Serve in the role of Director in their absence.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree at the time of appointment.
- 1-3 years of experience in Student Conduct, Residence Life and Housing or related field in Higher Education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel or related field
- Proven commitment to integrating the philosophies of restorative justice and inclusive excellence into the student conduct process
- Professional experience conducting investigations
- Maxient Database Case Management Experience
- Professional experience in a role pertaining to student conduct at an institution of higher education
- Experience in managing administrative and formal hearings regarding Student Code violations including Title IX cases
