POSITION DETAILS
Baruch College is looking for an energetic, creative individual to serve as the Assistant Director of Leadership Development & Civic Engagement (Student Life Specialist). The position is in the Office of Student Life and reports to the Director of Student Life. The Office of Student Life strives to provide educational co-curricular programs and learning opportunities for Baruch College students. To that end, the Assistant Director will be responsible for working to provide students with a framework for mapping goals and expectations that will guide them toward successful completion of their degree objectives and beyond.
Primary responsibilities for this position will be implementing signature Baruch College Leadership programs including: T.E.A.M. Baruch, Leadership Weekend, Adventure Day and leadership programs and opportunities for undergraduate students. The candidate must have demonstrated successful student leadership development experience and as well as coordinated leadership learning opportunities for various student groups. Other responsibilities for this position include:
Administer the College???s signature peer leadership program: T.E.A.M. Baruch in partnership with Career Services, Orientation, Residence Life, Health & Wellness, New Student & Family Programs, and Enrollment Management.
Coordinate student leadership development programs and provide training during annual on-and off-campus retreats and events such as Leadership Weekend, T.E.A.M. Baruch Retreat, Community Service Trips, Alternative Spring Breaks, and Adventure Days.
Design off-campus co-curricular experiences in partnership with academic departments to provide education and leadership training in conjunction with Heritage Month celebrations.
Develop and implement semesterly leadership training for Undergraduate Student Government, Graduate Student Assembly and Media Groups and establish Baruch Officer Leadership Development workshops to enhance the leadership skills of existing club leaders.
Recruit, train, and supervise Leadership Development Peer Mentors and build a comprehensive and progressive leadership development program that partners with student success departments campus-wide.
Develop and manage leadership development programs for affinity groups such as LGBTQIA+ leadership program and Women of Collective.
Assist with College-wide events and activities to include, but are not limited to, Baruch???s opening week events, Commencement Exercises, Festivals, Homecoming, Relay for Life, and other events.
Serve as a First-Year Seminar Co-Lead.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor???s degree and four years??? related experience required.
Strong communication, interpersonal, managerial and administrative skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced complex environment

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$64,649 - $72,667; Salary commensurate with education and experience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the Emblem Health HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.
If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to Emblem Health. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by Emblem Health before the exemption is granted.
