To provide a comprehensive counseling program for all students. Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance student academic success. Provide a program that supports school activities and educational programs. Most importantly, the counseling program should support students' academic and social-emotional development.
Woodward Academy Primary School Counselors empower prekindergarten through 3rd-grade students to reach their fullest potential by providing a comprehensive school counseling program to discover, develop, and apply learning strategies, social skills, and self-management skills as guided by the American School Counseling Association National Model.
Essential Functions:
Implement and promote a comprehensive counseling program for all students.
A joyful, kind, and passionate devotion to serving diverse faculty, students, and parents to create a climate of inclusion and belonging for all constituents.
Work with counselors Academy-wide to ensure consistency of the counseling program.
Adheres to the ASCA mindsets & behaviors and follows the ASCA ethical guidelines.
Provides classroom lessons, group counseling, and individual counseling related to student's academic, career, and social/emotional development.
Consult with and train teachers, parents, and staff regarding students' needs.
Collaborate with and make referrals to appropriate community support resources for students and families.
Participate in student development and achievement-related conferences with parents, students, teachers, and/or administrators.
Review student psycho-educational testing results and provide student accommodations to teachers.
Conduct and interpret the results of a standardized testing program.
Dedication to continued professional development in all aspects of school counseling.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Master’s degree or higher in the area of school counseling; Georgia School Counseling Certification, LPC, and/or National Board Counseling Certification.
Three years of experience in school counseling, independent school counseling experience a plus.
Teaching experience preferred.
Demonstrated skill in using Google Suite.
The Primary School Counselor position is an exempt, salaried, ten-month position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The benefits are substantial.
