Job Summary: The University Registrar is responsible for leading the administrative and operational activities of the Office of the University Registrar. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: developing and implementing administrative policies and procedures; budget development; and the maintenance and evaluation of technology to facilitate timely, accurate, efficient and innovative provision of services. The University Registrar will be responsible for organizational planning, policy recommendations and implementation of procedures for student records, registration, commencement and athletic certification. The University Registrar also serves as custodian of the student information system and other academic records processing systems. Additional Department Summary: The University of Alabama (UA) seeks a strategic and collaborative leader to serve as the next University Registrar.
Reporting to the Sr Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, the University Registrar will develop a future-oriented vision for the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) on planning, curricular, and budgetary decisions. In addition, the University Registrar will have the following major job responsibilities: • Will work collaboratively with other UA leaders, as well as schools/colleges, to implement the General Education reform that was adopted in November 2022. • Provides administrative direction and support for the Office of the University Registrar, including but not limited to directing the area operations within the OUR; ensuring periodic evaluation of services seeking opportunities for continuous improvement; implementing any approved changes in policies, procedures, and processes. • Directs the production, processing, storage, retrieval, and security of University records, providing certification of contained information. • Plans and directs the development and implementation of new systems, both technologically enhanced and manual, policies, and practices. Maintains knowledge of appropriate trends affecting areas of responsibility. • Represents and serves as liaison with University offices and committees. Provides informational support for the Offices of the President and Provost, Office for Academic Affairs (OAA), Office of the Director of Athletics & Intercollegiate Athletics, College Deans, Directors of OAA direct reports, and other auxiliary service offices across the University. • Serves as the institution's athletic academic eligibility officer certifying the academic eligibility of student-athletes according to NCAA and SEC regulations, serving as chair of University Athletic Compliance Oversight Committee, assisting all intercollegiate athletic programs to comply with NCAA/SEC regulations and University policies and procedures, and communicates any possible infractions to the intercollegiate athletics compliance office. • Ensures compliance with reporting standards in accordance with State/Federal law, Faculty Rules and other institutional policies. Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree or higher and five (5) years of experience in progressively responsible areas of higher education.
