Elizabethtown Community & Technical College is seeking an Academic Counselor for The TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) program. The EOC is a federally funded grant program that provides counseling and information on college admissions to first-generation and limited-income adults who want to enter or continue a program of postsecondary education. The program also provides services to improve participants' financial and economic literacy, including counseling on financial aid options, basic financial planning skills, and assisting in the FAFSA application process. The EOC program aims to increase the number of adult participants who enroll in postsecondary education institutions.Â Grant funding until August 2026, and is renewable.Â
â€¢ Responsible for the identification and recruitment of eligible participants in a minimum of at least four counties within the EOC target area. â€¢ Develop relationships with community partners and participants in their respective counties of service, requiring frequent travel throughout the target area. â€¢ Assist and guide participants through the college admissions and financial aid application process. â€¢ Assist participants in developing an educational plan and selecting the appropriate postsecondary courses as necessary. â€¢ Conducts educational, financial aid, and career informational workshops. â€¢ Conducts case management, maintains database and student files, and assists in the preparation of reports while ensuring the protection and privacy of participant information by federal regulations. â€¢ Attend in-house and external TRIO training. â€¢ Assists the EOC Director with formative and summative evaluation, grant writing, and reporting. â€¢ Responsible for assisting with outreach, recruitment, orientation, intake, assessment, and advisement activities leading to the enrollment of low-income and first-generation individuals in postsecondary education programs from their assigned area. â€¢ Other duties as assigned by the EOC Director.
Bachelorâ€™s Degree required in counseling, student personnel work, education, social work, or another related field and three years of experience working with first-generation, limited-income, or disadvantaged populations or a Masterâ€™s Degree and one-year experience. Financial aid, career counseling, and college admissions procedure experience are preferredÂ
