We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated individual to lead our Associated Students of Columbia Basin College. Student Activities are the heart of student engagement at CBC and provides oversight and management of the student funded co-curricular and extracurricular offerings at the college. In this role, you will advise, guide, counsel, supervise and coordinate with our student clubs and organizations to create meaningful student engagement and involvement. Working with a diverse population of students with varying needs, you will develop the vision and direction for the student leadership program. This role establishes collaborative relationships across campus to supports this vision. This position will report to the Assistant Dean for Student Conduct and Activities.

Primary Responsibilities
Provide leadership, guidance and supervision of the Associated Students of Columbia Basin College (ASCBC) and develop programs that facilitate the involvement of students in the Colleges’ shared governance process and serve as their primary advisor;
Empower and supply the necessary tools for student groups to generate and structure a comprehensive events and activities calendar for the wider campus community, with special emphasis on building student leaders and campus communities;
Provide supervision of events and activities at night and on weekends as needed;
Develop and facilitate curriculum for the student leadership program;
Participate in duty rotation of Sun Hawk Hall with other Student Life staff;
Assist with budget supervision and development of the student activities including revenue, expenditures, budget planning/management and detailed record keeping;
Co-coordinate with other professional office staff for summer and on-going training for the ASCBC student leaders;
Oversee the hiring, training and supervision of office staff and student leaders;
Develop a strong club structure that is nurturing and sustainable, which can be maintained by both student and professional staff;
Serve as the budget authority for all 522 student-funded programs
Provide guidance to the Student Activities Budget Committee and serve as an ex-officio advisor.
Maintain a welcoming student union building that meets the everchanging student needs and trends;
Oversee the administration of program functions and budgets, providing long range planning and resource allocation of appropriate resources, forecasting of revenues and expenditures, and approving and managing all expenditures, including Student Services and Activities funded accounts, in compliance with state and College procedures and within approved funding levels;
Coordinate commencement including chairing the committee, ordering and distributing regalia, training and communicating with graduates, and keeping the College community informed of related activities.
Actively participate in educational and professional activities to network, learn best practices, build knowledge and expand resources, including representing CBC at the state level of the Council of Unions and Student Programs (CUSP);
Build interdepartmental relationships and partnerships with staff, faculty, Instruction, Administrative Services, Student Services, DEI and communications to promote student success, leadership engagement, equity, and inclusion;
Participate as an integral member of the Student Services administrative team and serve on College committees as appropriate; and
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, communication, student or human development, student leadership, college administration or related field from an institutionally accredited college or university;
Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission and to the students it serves;
Two (2) years of experience developing curriculum and/or planning, organizing and coordinating programs, workshops, classes and/or student events;
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with college faculty, staff, administrators and students;
Experience managing staff and resources effectively, including facilities and equipment;
Experience in managing program budgets;
Experience in assessing outcomes and program success using qualitative and quantitative data;
Proficiency in the use of electronic media;
Excellent communication, organizational and planning skills;
Commitment to diversity and cultural sensitivity with experience in working with diverse populations; and
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in education, communication, student development, student/organizational leadership, college administration or related field preferred from an institutionally accredited college or university;
Demonstrated passion for and commitment to student success;
Current knowledge about best practices and research findings relative to student retention programs and services;
Instructional experience in a college setting;
Knowledge of and/or experience with CBC’s FYI program; and
Demonstrated success in cultivating relationships and expertise creating collaborative partnerships with staff, faculty, students, parents, and college stakeholder groups.
Columbia Basin College (CBC) serves the citizens of Benton and Franklin counties in Washington state with two-year associate degrees for transfer to a four-year university, and applied degrees for workforce employment. CBC also provides one-year certificates and basic skills for those pursuing a GED or high school diploma. CBC serves approximately 7,000-8,000 students each quarter.Columbia Basin College now offers bachelor degrees in Nursing, Project Management, Applied Management, Cyber Security, Information Technology, and Dental Hygiene. In addition to training CBC healthcare professionals, the Wortman Medical Science Center will also be a functional medical clinic as part of Kadlec Regional Medical Center’s family medicine residency program.CBC will open a student housing facility in September.
