The Mission of UCSC Career Success is to prepare students for what they want to do with their lives by developing relevant career skills. Career Success envisions that Banana Slugs change the world, wherever they are, however they can. Career Success is a unit of the Division of Student Affairs and Success which provides campus-wide coordination and leadership for student success programs and activities across departments, divisions, the colleges, and administrative units.
The Office of Alumni Engagement at UCSC serves the over 140,000 members of the banana slug alumni network across the globe. We cultivate lifelong connections, celebrate shared experiences, and inspire impactful contributions to encourage a thriving UCSC alumni community. Alumni Engagement is a unit of University Relations, which elevates the reputation of UC Santa Cruz and builds enduring relationships with alumni and campus friends.
The Corporate Development & Alumni Career Program Manager will build and strengthen relationships and partnerships with alumni and corporations within the Silicon Valley and Bay Area. They will collaborate closely with constituents at UCSC to coordinate outreach strategies, engagement plans and share information. The Corporate Development & Alumni Career Program Manager will also steward a corporate partner program, help create new revenue streams, and facilitate several alumni events per year. The position will require significant travel to and throughout the Silicon Valley and Bay Area and occasional travel to other locations as needed. The Corporate Development & Alumni Career Program Manager will report directly to UCSC Career Success and to UCSC Alumni as this is a joint position.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
Budgeted Salary:$82,300 - $85,000 / Annually. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience. Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary above the posted range. The salary shown above is the budgeted range the University reasonably expects to pay.

Identify, outreach and build relationships with corporations and alumni of UCSC; focusing on the Silicon Valley and Bay Area. Strengthen existing relationships.
Create a comprehensive quarterly outreach plan in a variety of industry areas.
Evaluate the plan yearly incorporating modifications as needed to remain current with changing economic conditions and trends.
Meet with corporations and alumni both virtually and in person to discuss and strategize a connection plan to UCSC.
Attend events in the SV/Bay Area in order to connect with alumni, industry professionals, business leaders, and other constituents.
Assist university relations and development office to cultivate philanthropic opportunities for the University.
Advise or co-advise the 'Careers Committee' of the Alumni Association Board of Directors to help direct their work and interest in supporting students and alumni.
Collaborate with other campus corporate and alumni development staff to coordinate outreach strategies and engagement plans.
25% - Program Management
Assist the Executive Director of Career Success in stewarding a Corporate Partnership Program; increasing partner development and involvement on a yearly basis.
Connect Corporate Partners to constituents on-campus as well as students and help customize recruiting plans.
In collaboration with the Career Success leadership team, create new and enhance existing revenue streams.
15% - Alumni Programming
Plan and coordinate a monthly or quarterly event series in the Silicon Valley area that will steward alumni connection, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
Coordinate site visits with Alumni in industry to help connect students from both main and SVE campuses.
Host annual corporate 'at work' alumni programs at corporations with a significant number of alumni employees.
Work closely with the UCSC Alumni team to support signature campus programs engaging alumni.
15% - Data & Reporting
Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and statistics on results of corporate and alumni outreach activities.
Responsible for updating campus databases in a timely and accurate manner regarding call reports, site visits, content of conversations and follow-up actions.
Conduct corporate and alumni focus groups to determine industry and hiring trends in relation to student interest, abilities, and skills.
Partner with Alumni Engagement staff on development of an annual 'Life After UCSC' report highlighting the career trajectories of our most recent graduates.
Serve on the First Destination and Alumni Survey Data Taskforce.
5% - Organizational Involvement
Represent UCSC and Career Success at public events.
Engage in trainings and professional development activities.
May have other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Advanced knowledge of practices and procedures associated with building and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of alumni, internal and external constituencies.
Advanced project management skills, including skills to plan and implement successful events.
Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including skill to produce information that is appropriately presented and effectively received by target constituencies.
Active listening skills, including advanced critical thinking and analytical skills.
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in higher education, technology, recruiting, development, partnerships, sales, or related fields.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skill to recognize potential areas of constituency concern and address, resolve and/or mitigate problems or issues.
Advanced knowledge of assigned area of responsibility, for example, the campus scientific community.
Advanced knowledge of issues of concern in higher education.
Advanced knowledge of the campus, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements, issues of concern and infrastructure.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
Must possess a valid license to drive in the state of California.
Ability to work long periods of time at a computer with or without accommodation.
Will be required to work a hybrid work schedule, days of the week and number of days to be determined, and be able to fulfill requirements of the UCSC telecommuting agreement.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as directed.
Ability to travel to multiple work locations on and off campus.
Ability to travel nationally.
Ability to maintain appearance and conduct suitable for working in a professional setting.
