Reporting to the ASAP\ACE Director, the ASAP\ACE Associate Director supervises and monitors the day-to-day work of ASAP and ACE academic advisors, with regard to providing timely, effective academic guidance for all students to ensure degree completion, as well as student engagement that aligns with their program???s advisement rubric. The Associate Director is responsible for monitoring and analyzing individual advisor and complete program engagement data consistently to ensure advisors successfully meet program engagement benchmarks. The ASAP\_ ACE Associate Director (Advisement) assesses needs and gaps and develops strategy for effective advisement programming and other retention-related activities, in collaboration with other designated program staff, and assists the ASAP\_ACE Director in key program administrative areas. The Associate Director will also provide a framework of support, guidance and professional development for their advisees.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises ASAP and ACE advisors in delivery of comprehensive support services to ASAP and ACE students, with additional support for the transfer student population, if applicable.
Oversees timely entry of student enrollment and program contact tracking data into the ASAPi database.
Monitors and assesses individual advisor reports on a regular basis to ensure movement towards ASAP and ACE success benchmarks and to determine student support needs.
Oversees ongoing training, support and professional development for ASAP and ACE advisement staff.
Monitors, disseminates changes in college advisement procedures and academic policies.
Supervises planning and implementation of ASAP and ACE summer programming, including summer course taking, workshops, and the ASAP summer institute and other special student activities.
Assists the ASAP\_ ACE Director with required reporting and collaboration with other college units.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required. A master???s degree in a related field may substitute for 2 years??? experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree preferred
Strong academic advisement skills, including an understanding of the implications of financial aid on advisement and experience developing advisement strategies, preferably within a cohort environment
Experience with student caseload management and ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of student activities
Strong understanding of the needs and challenges facing students from diverse backgrounds and an ability to establish inclusive and equitable working relationships with students and peers
Understanding of student and academic data management and utilization
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, within the department and with faculty and other administrators, and to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Demonstrated experience supervising and leading staff and building cohesive teams
Strong organizational, project management, communication, and facilitation skills
Proficient computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Excel and Access; CUNYfirst and Tableau data visualization software experience a plus
Experience or familiarity with STEM-related programs
Understanding of Student Development Theory and its application

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted.
