Hampden-Sydney College has an immediate opening for an Assistant Director of Career Communities. Reporting to the Director of the Ferguson Career Center, the Assistant Director serves as a key conduit of information and education regarding full-time positions, internships, and experiential opportunities in a student services environment. This role pro-actively engages with students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and friends of Hampden-Sydney College in STEM industries and Government agencies to develop and promote a host of career building opportunities and skills for undergraduate liberal arts students. The Assistant Director will accomplish this through direct career advising with undergraduate students in individual and group settings, conduct outreach programming, manage office technology resources, and serve as a knowledgeable resource for students exploring post-graduation options including Graduate School and Fellowship Programs. Must have ability to work occasional evening hours and weekend special events.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree preferred. Other needed characteristics include development of experiential learning programs; effective public speaking, teaching and written communication skills; and the ability to establish rapport with students, parents, faculty, alumni, employers and staff in a strong liberal arts environment. Awareness of Federal hiring process and security clearances preferred. Knowledge of Handshake system required.
