Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Outreach and Recruitment reports to director of admissions, with primary responsibility for the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive K-16 outreach and recruitment plans that support Humboldt strategic enrollment objectives for undergraduate and graduate students. The role provides departmental leadership that collaborates and assists the director in the development and execution of recruitment and yield plans, efforts, and directs and evaluates the work of the market-focused recruiters including their familiarity, adoption, and utilization of the field-facing market framework. The associate director supervises the work of the recruiting team, volunteers, paid-student roles, and go to market partners. The role is responsible for coordinating and evaluating a variety of complex recruitment projects such as: demand generation and market engagement models for the field, compliance with and metrics associated with the aforementioned field-facing market framework, conferences, regional meetings, college fairs/nights, and CSU application and financial aid workshops. This role provides primary coverage in-market, in the absence of a recruiter. The associate director is a servant leader that actively coaches and develops their reports in a team-oriented environment characterized by a commitment to inclusiveness, collegiality, diversity, civility, and mutual understanding.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Yield
Initiates and assists in development of recruitment strategies and yield strategies that directly serve the objectives of the strategic enrollment plan,
Responsible for the day to day management of the recruitment team and their performance within a CRM-based, field-facing framework,
Responsible for the design, administration, coordination, and evaluation of a comprehensive yield component as it relates to recruitment and outreach,
Daily management of a diverse team as a developer, coach, mentor - in ways that create high-value customer connections on the part of all direct reports, arranges meetings, sets schedules, monitors activities and provides feedback to staff,
Arrange and hold presentations to prospective students and their parents,
Incumbent works directly with University faculty, administrators, staff and students in outreach efforts,
Conduct visits at high schools and community colleges in local, regional, and out-of- state areas to provide current information on educational opportunities available at Humboldt regarding admissions procedures and entrance requirements, Polytechnic majors and academic programs, financial assistance including merit-based aid, housing, student life, athletic programs and career opportunities
Leadership
Manages the department's recruitment and outreach budget and informs Director of Admissions and Strategic Planning of areas of concern or opportunities to invest.
Determines policies and practices for outreach staff, monitors, evaluates and is accountable for program services in order to meet specific program goals and outcomes to include but not limited to: Preview Week Events, Humboldt First, Virtual Events, Spring Receptions, and Recruitment Events
Supervision and lead search process to fill vacancies and make appropriate recommendation for hire. Trains, supervises and evaluates professional staff and interns
Closely monitors staff to assure appropriate time on task
Implements staff professional development programs and training modules; defines and determines staff responsibilities, work priorities, work assignments, daily tasks, and short and long-range plans based upon assessment of programmatic needs; develops and implements annual administrative work plan and evaluates annual work plans for subordinate staff
Creates a team-oriented environment characterized by a commitment to inclusiveness, collegiality, diversity, civility and mutual understanding
Strategic Planning
Supports the development of strategic planning that frames long range plans for department initiatives to align with CSU strategic initiatives and campus divisional goals.
Based on assessment, incumbent provides recommendations on changes needed to show growth or removal of given efforts due to lack of return.
Regularly meet with the Director of Admissions to assure that efforts are progressing in positive directions and provide feedback on any adjustments needed to address the goals assigned to the department.
Partnership Development
Represent and speak formally on behalf of Humboldt and the California State University system at college advisement programs
Meet with departments and Dean's teams for each academic college with the Director of Admissions and Strategic Communications.
Interact effectively with students, staff, faculty, administrators and the general public
Collaborate with off-campus partners such as County Office of Education and other educational partners that support potential prospective students.
Incumbent maintains open channels of communication and strong collaborative relations

Minimum Qualifications:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible higher education experience and delivery of services and programs to students and external constituents.
General knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of the student services area as well as in-depth knowledge of the policies, procedures and practices of outreach and recruitment activities to include in-state and out-of-state recruitment.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of three years' experience in outreach, recruitment, campus tours, market-based sales, and/or marketing.
A Master's degree in a related field is preferred with three years' experience and a working knowledge of the core functions in outreach, recruitment, campus tours, and event management and special programs.
