Position Details:
Summary of Duties: This position provides outreach services to students and families. The GEAR UP Program & College Entrance Coordinator performs college readiness support while providing tutoring and academic advising/mentoring services in support of the educational and outreach enrichment of the GEAR UP Program. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for coordinating program services and resources; promotes and facilitates in providing College and Career Exploration outreach opportunities for students; develops and implements student-focused, academic and college prep services on educational topics including career planning, college admissions, student financial aid, etc.; and performs complex scheduling, marketing and coordinating of on and off-site activities such as college and career exploration events, field trips to post-secondary institutions, and family engagement events.
This position requires the ability to apply independent judgement based on knowledge of academic policies and procedures as they pertain to the program and student readiness; program support when providing regular communication and correspondence with site managers and partners.
Required Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent AND (2) two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.
Experience in providing instruction or direct outreach services to students and/or working with parents in individual or group settings.
Proficiency in the use of computers; MS Office software programs and Google workspace.
Experience in planning, developing events and/or special projects
Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of program partners and grant requirements.
Employment is contingent upon passing a background screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent amount of experience and education.
Experience working in a collaborative manner with diverse groups.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively, with persons of varying levels of responsibility and experience, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of WSU Business Policies and Procedures /Guidelines.
Experience in higher education, local or state agency, or equivalent.

Monthly Salary: Range 38 | $3,096.00 to $4,117.00 Step A-M | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28 OR applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Temporary End Date: This is a project position expected to end on 12/31/2023. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
