The Shipley Upper School seeks an experienced high school math teacher to work with our existing dynamic team of math teachers. This is a full-time position reporting to Upper School Division Head.
Major Responsibilities:
Teach Math at varied levels in the Math Department.
Teach computer programming in the STEAM Dept
Serve as an advisor to a group of students.
Teach four sections and attend faculty meetings.
The Successful Candidate must:
Possess a deep passion for Mathematics and STEAM
Hold a degree in mathematics or related field
Create a supportive atmosphere and rigorous academic program in which all students will thrive
Provide positive, frequent communication with students, colleagues, administration and families
Display professionalism in working with all stakeholders in the school.
Show a desire to work collaboratively with all members of the Shipley Community to positively contribute to the enhancement of our learning community.
Work collaboratively with department members to develop a cohesive curriculum that supports student growth at all levels
Constructively solicit and use feedback in the classroom.
The Ideal Candidate will:
Will have Experience teaching math at the high school level. Experience in related STEAM fields is a plus.
Possess excellent communication and writing skills
Have experience teaching math and programming at the high school level
Hold a clear educational philosophy, consistent with the mission of the school
Be excited to work with and appropriately challenge students at all mathematics levels
Be willing to experiment and try new methods and approaches to challenge students
Help students become active and independent learners who can communicate mathematical ideas with confidence.
Actively support students' development as flexible and tenacious problem solvers.
Demonstrate an excellent ability to differentiate instruction in order to meet all students' needs.
