Portledge School was founded in 1965 and is located on the beautiful North Shore of Long Island. Approximately fifty minutes from NYC by train, Portledge is nestled on a pastoral 63 acre tree-lined campus that is known for its cherry blossoms in spring.  Enrolling approximately 530 students in grades N-12, Portledge offers a competitive college preparatory program in a warm, inclusive community. Job Description: 

Portledge School seeks to hire an experienced School Psychologist who is passionate about creating a healthy, student-centered school atmosphere. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills. This is a full-time, 10-month position with summer duties as needed, reporting to the Lead Psychologist and Upper School Division Head.

Responsibilities:

• Consultation with teachers, advisors and college counselors to develop and implement strategies that support students with emotional, behavioral, social, or academic challenges.
• Consultation with parents regarding concerns about students and help with the development of intervention strategies.
• In-School counseling for students across divisions - individual and group
• Coordination of the provision of special education services for Portledge students.
• Facilitation of referrals to the Locust Valley School district and outside agencies when necessary.
• Schedules and attends all CSE meetings for students with IESPs
• Responsibility for planning and leading initial and triennial evaluations
• Coordination and administration of non-standard testing for all College Board, ACT and other standardized tests for students with IEPs and 504s or anyone requesting accommodations.
• Coordination of Child Study Team Meetings
• Sits on Sexual Misconduct Team
• Sits on Crisis Intervention Task Force
• Implements existing and initiates new programs for student services school-wide
• Facilitate faculty and parent PD and or workshops
• Commitment to work with the Portledge Upper School leadership team and senior school leadership to promote the health and social/emotional well-being of everyone in the community
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

• MS Degree minimum; advanced degree preferred
• School Psychologist certification required
• Superb written and oral communication as well as organizational and time management skills
• Familiarity with and ability to use Google docs, drive and slides as both a professional collaboration tool and an integrated instructional tool in the classroom
• Ability to comfortably, warmly, and effectively engage with large and small groups of adults and/or students in professional or social settings
• Belief in the value of all types of diversity with a commitment to social justice and equity
• Anti-racism/anti-bias training preferred
• A commitment to the qualities embodied by the Portledge pillars: Kindness, Purpose, Honor, Respect 
• Desire to nurture the whole child and to support students by attending school events such as art, music, theater, athletics and community functions.
