Summary and Scope of Position:
The Assistant Director, Institute for Student Success & Tutoring and Academic Coaching Coordinator works to support and advance retention efforts. The AD is responsible for providing academic support to upperclassmen students, identifying, implementing and/or referring to appropriate resources to ensure their academic success.
The AD also serves as the tutoring and academic coaching coordinator, coordinating and implementing all on campus tutoring and academic coaching services and supervises student staff. This position is responsible for data collection, assessment and reporting on all tutoring and academic coaching programs and other academic success initiatives.
Assistant Director, Institute for Student Success
Provide individualized academic support to at-risk upperclassmen students (sophomores, juniors, and seniors).
Manages Academic Early Alert system for upperclassmen students,
Develops and implements academic recovery strategies for at-risk students in order to promote academic and personal success.
Monitors potential barriers to student success and recommends modifications to processes, policies, and systems that impact student success.
Collaborates with Dean’s Office, Institutional Research and the Registrar to monitor upperclassmen students and ensure they are meeting credit and degree requirements.
Supports upperclassmen students not on track for graduation and offers solutions for credit completion.
Provides ongoing communication, collaboration, and support for advisers, faculty, and coaches on student issues and concerns.
Develops and executes social and educational programming opportunities for upperclassmen students.
Tutoring and Academic Coaching Coordinator
Oversees tutoring and academic coaching program.
Recruits, selects, trains, and supervises 60-80 peer tutors and academic coaches.
Manages payroll for all student tutors and academic coaches, including auditing and verifying reported hours.
Tracks student attendance in tutoring and academic coaching programming.
Responsible for maintaining the scheduling software, WCOnline.
Manages program budget of $40,000.
Works with faculty to implement departmental tutoring programs.
Serves as co-coordinator for the BIO-101 Recitation tutoring program.
Assesses campus tutoring and academic coaching programs and makes appropriate changes.
Master’s degree required, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field.
Minimum of three years professional experience in higher education.
Background in academic advising or counseling preferred.
Experience with student leadership programs strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with Colleague and Microsoft Office products preferred.
Familiarity with assessment, data collection and analysis.
