The Web Developer provides support under direct supervision for computer technology needs throughout the College of Health and Human Services, specifically about web site development and maintenance, accessibility compliance, and graphic design. This position serves as the resource for digital related services for the faculty and staff of the College of Health and Humans Services. The Web Developer must have an understanding of and ability to implement requirements associated with Web Accessibility Standards and the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act as it pertains to web design and management.
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) faculty, through advising, teaching, and supervising, offers students a balanced education of academic study, field placement, clinical experiences, and research opportunities. The College of Health and Human Services is one of seven colleges within San Diego State University. CHHS consists of the following schools: the School of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, the School of Nursing, the School of Social Work, the School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences, and the Graduate School of Public Health.
The Office of the Dean administers these programs with two Associate Deans (Academic Affairs; Research) and an Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. Functions of the College are: fiscal affairs (budget development and management), faculty affairs, contract administration, academic program development, facilities planning and management, instructional technology and computing, college research, advancement, and general administration.
The CHHS provides overall information systems support to all units. This support includes central distribution and monitoring of computing resources; instructional support for classrooms and laboratories; administrative assistance to all units including computer upgrades, repairs, systems maintenance, and software support. College personnel support and assist the technical staff of each of the units. Thus, the College Dean's office is relied upon for a vast array of support services, overall integration, and hardware and software leadership.

Education and Experience
To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in applications programming and systems analysis and related programming support functions is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or business, or equivalent training and applied experience. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Analyst/Programmer, depending on the position assignment, may include working knowledge of a specific industry standard applications programming language and knowledge of standard systems analysis techniques.
Ability to create graphical interface design and artistic web design using web editors.
Knowledge in basic graphics design utilizing tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Publisher, and/or Adobe Photoshop/Creative Cloud.
Knowledge of accessibility compliance regulations and familiarity with SiteImprove.
Must have experience in using basic internet tools such as SSH and ftp.
Knowledge of client/server technologies, structured programming techniques, data structure design and relational database concepts.
Ability to design data structures to maximize efficiency and flexibility.
Ability to write simple programs using multiple applications and databases and the ability to translate from one database format to another.
Ability to maintain content management system software, including but not limited to WordPress interface. Coordinates, monitors, organizes, troubleshoots, and deploys security updates and patches. Familiarity with cPanel.
Experience with multimedia programming including integration of existing interactive web casting (streaming video) and various distance learning technologies.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,910 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,713 - $7,149 per month.
