Job Summary

Working collaboratively with the Program Coordinator and the Regional Director of Adult Education, the Clark County Adult Education Instructor provides targeted instruction in Adult Basic Education and administers diagnostic assessments. The Clark County Adult Education Instructor reports to the Program Coordinator and the Regional Director of Adult Education. This position requires availability for day and evening instruction.

Job Duties:

1. Provides College and Career Ready Standards instruction for adult education including Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reasoning Through Language Arts.
2. Develops targeted instruction for adult education.
3. Develops competencies that ensure students develop independent learning skills, have a wealth of knowledge in other content areas, use technology, integrate workplace skills, and understand other perspectives and cultures.
4. Administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic assessments for adult students.
5. Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies.
6. Assesses and monitors learning.
7. Provides classroom management.
8. Maintains lesson plans and syllabi for each course taught.
9. Participates in professional development required by Kentucky Skills U.
10. Participates in retention and follow-up activities.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (related field) and two years related experience, or equivalent.
• Score of NRS level 6 in Reading on the TABE A 11/12 assessment (provided by BCTC after employment).
• Successfully earns a passing GED Ready score in subject area(s) being taught (provided by BCTC after employment). 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching adult education classes.
• Experience working with Kentucky Adult Education Reporting System (KAERS).
• Knowledge of the TABE and GED Ready procedures.
