Job Description:
Assists international students and scholars maintain their nonimmigrant status and serves as a Designated School Official (DSO). Ensures Trinity University is in compliance with federal laws and regulations pertaining to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Department of State and other government entities as they relate to international students. Develops programs to assist international students and scholars with cultural adjustment. Assist the ISSS Assistant Director with the management of student records. Supports the international student population by providing nonimmigrant student document preparation, orientation, data management, support programming, student organization advising.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
*Ensure SEVIS registration reporting at the start of each term is completed in a timely manner.
*Prepares and processes nonimmigrant documents for admitted students entering Trinity University on F-1 and J-1 visas prior to their enrollment.
*Provide immigration advisement to students, prospective students and exchange visitors in person, via email and phone.
*Adjudicate all U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) requests requiring a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO)
* Travel Endorsement
* I-20 Forms (Initial Attendance, Continued Attendance, CPT, OPT, STEM OPT)
* School Transfer to or from TU
* Deferred Attendance
* Change of Status
* Program Extensions
* Change of Program
* Economic Necessity Employment Authorizations (Economic Hardship)
* Dependent Visitation Documents (F2)
* Part-time Study Authorization (RCL)
*Correspond with and respond to USCIS, DOS, and U.S. Embassy/Consulate requests.
*Spearheads collaborations with CIE and other departments on cross-departmental projects. Such as International Education Week, Collaborative Online International Learning projects, and more.
*Maintain ISSS social media account.
EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
Preferred:
Master's degree or equivalent either in International Education or in a related field from four-year college or university.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
1 year
Experience working with international students within a higher education environment.
Preferred:
Two years prior experience with the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and familiarity with Department of Homeland Security policies and regulations.
Experience living/working/volunteering abroad.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Required:
Familiarity with federal non-immigration F-1 regulations and related practices.
Ability to use software systems to streamline work processes and communications.
Familiarity with student data management systems.
Detail oriented and have substantial experience working with international students.
Familiarity with website management tools, graphic and web editing tools, social media.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff with patience and diplomacy in a teamwork environment.
Preferred:
Familiarity with Adobe products to facilitate processes.
Proficiency in a foreign language.
Knowledge on cross-cultural communication, cross-cultural programming, cultural adaptation problems.
Ability to obtain up-to-date immigration regulation information from NAFSA and relevant associations and sources.
