For the 2023-2024 academic year, we are searching for a motivated, talented, experienced individual to teach Economics at the Trinity-Pawling School. Depending on the student enrollment, this position may also include teaching classes in either history of mathematics. 

How You Will Help the School: You will teach and innovate an economic curriculum that helps students develop critical thinking skills to understand the world around them and make informed decisions about their own lives.  Also, you will be an Advisor, Dorm Parent, and Coach (2-3 seasons).

What You Will Be Doing:

• Using a variety of teaching methods and strategies to develop the students’ knowledge, skills and abilities to understand and apply the principles of economics.  
• Engage students by implementing meaningful project-based and experiential learning activities and designing projects/classroom activities using 21st-century learning objectives (critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, reflective learning, and interdisciplinary thinking).
• Deliver instruction where students are asked to remember, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate, and create. This includes small group work, meaningful homework assignments, and a tiered level of choices in assessments.
• Manage students’ behavior by having systems in place that allow students to grow their best selves both academically and behaviorally, and collaborating with administrators/parents on holding students accountable.
• Measures students’ progress by using a variety of valid assessment models, designing assessments to match curriculum objectives, using Bloom’s taxonomy as well as rubrics.
• Advise students to meet academic objectives and age-appropriate life skills (interpersonal, conflict resolution and time management) by meeting one-on-one on a regular basis; providing and obtaining updates from other faculty and sharing 
• Build relationships with students, parents and colleagues by providing regular updates to parents and faculty, having meaningful conversations, providing feedback and being accountable. 
• Develop personal mastery by participating in professional development, networking to incorporate best practices, and reading professional publications.
• Coach athletic teams by planning and attending all practices; teaching students strategies and techniques and ensuring there is sportsmanship throughout the season. 
• Connect with students by fully participating in campus life and engaging in extracurricular activities.
• Promote the interest of students by being a good role model, establishing and reinforcing clear boundaries and guidelines, encouraging students’ autonomy and independence, and acting in a transparent manner.
• Follow procedures by adhering to the School’s policies, creating and inputting student-specific comments/grades/attendance into the database; and communicating in an efficient & professional manner. 
• Performs other duties as may be required.

You will be good at your job if you have an undergraduate degree in Economics and you can teach students to use the principles of economics to analyze historical trends, interpret today’s headlines, make predictions and make informed decisions.  It would be great if you have prior experience in an independent school setting, teaching AP courses and you can coach wrestling, tennis or basketball. 

(By the way, we want to hear about any sport you can coach and/or any interesting skill or hobby that might enhance the student experience!)

• motivate and engage teenage boys: (the over and underachiever, the super-focused and the unfocused, the gifted and the learning disabled)
• incorporate differentiated instruction and project-based learning techniques;
• integrate a thoughtful pedagogy that aligns with the mission and vision of the School; 
• communicate clearly, effectively, and compassionately (orally and in writing) with students, parents, and colleagues; 
• deal effectively with ambiguity and change; 
• build relationships with students, parents, and colleagues;
• give and receive constructive feedback;
• demonstrate a clear interest in being part of a community that is committed to diversity and inclusion; 
• coach athletics and/or lead extra-curricular activities;
• participate in and support the residential life curriculum;
• establish and reinforce clear boundaries while being a positive role model for students;
• meet the physical demands which may include traveling on uneven terrain, climbing/descending stairs, standing for long periods of time, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
