Position Summary: The Director of Advising & Success Coaching provides vision, leadership, and oversight for all academic advising processes and practices in support of student success, retention, and completion. This position assesses and maintains efficient and effective operating procedures, including ensuring appropriate use of technology, ongoing academic advising staff training, and the delivery of optimal advising and coaching services to all students. This Director must have strong partnerships with key staff to coordinate activities supporting the recruitment, orientation, and enrollment processes, success coaching, and student support through the student life cycle. The Director of Advising & Success Coaching develops and maintains departmental budgets, directly supervises all members of the academic advising staff and the Manager of Success Coaching working closely with the Vice President of Student services and the Vice President for Instruction

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide leadership to a team that plans and implements advising and coaching services that holistically address students’ academic, career, and social-emotional learning needs to facilitate successful matriculation through the student lifecycle. o Monitors at-risk students and actively provides referrals for support services, providing timely outreach to students through a variety of communication methods o Develop, execute, and monitor advising office processes and procedures related to advising and outreach interventions, this includes the regular updating of information from colleges, the staff use of systems to maintain records, and the monitoring of data systems to record activity conducted by staff o Oversee plans and processes for proactive academic outreach and coaching services o Oversee processes for academic advising and monitoring of staff conducting advising for quality control. o Manage processes of probation and stop out for staff to conduct with their respective students o Monitor data and early alerts to ensure staff are conducting timely follow-up and interventions o Oversee the process of 15, 30, and 45 credit hour audits conducted by staff
• Design and implement effective and ongoing training programs for student advisors and counselors to ensure consistent services to students through the campus platforms • Assist in the change management activities associated with implementation of new initiatives • Integrate technology, people and processes to support streamlined workflows for increased efficiencies • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with colleagues across the institution to develop scalable programs and interventions that support student success • Provide support for recruitment, orientation and enrollment events • Oversee the creation, distribution, and updating of a range of advising and coaching resource materials designed for the efficient enrollment of students, including content maintenance of web pages and online materials • Carry out special projects and assignments as determined by the Vice President of Student Services • Regular attendance on campus is required for this position • Other duties as assigned
Hours/Schedule: Some evening shifts, day shifts, and some Saturdays.
Work Environment: Work on and off-campus.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Master’s and/or professional degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college or university • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a higher education setting • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant progressive leadership and professional experience in student services or related field. • Ability to exhibit leadership, initiative, enthusiasm, teamwork and collaboration with faculty, staff and students • Previous academic advising experience • Strong communication skills, strong presentations and public speaking skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills • Experience leading a team in a dynamic, fast pace environment • Experience with technology, systems and tools used to provide and enhance services supporting student success, retention, and completion • Use of evidence-based practice and careful planning to implement new projects/initiatives • Proven excellent interpersonal skills for effective regular contact with diverse internal and external individuals and groups • Strong multicultural competency; extensive experience and working knowledge in diversity, equity, and inclusion • Experience in developing program goals, evaluating outcomes and monitoring expenditures • Represent the advising team on various committees throughout campus including retention and student services • Serve as the liaison to both leadership teams and advising staff by effectively communicating concerns, updates, and progress made on initiatives in the office of advising
