Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, the Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) provides management, strategic guidance, vision and leadership for multiple programs including pre-college transition programming, the Pride Center, and the DIB Center as well as any subsequent related units, initiatives, and grants. The Director will be responsible for developing and directing the implementation of strategic student outreach, academic support, and engagement initiatives to support student access and success, promote diversity and equity, and foster a supportive, inclusive environment. The individual in this role will assist in developing and advancing the mission and vision of the university by promoting a culture of diversity and inclusion while initiating, facilitating, and assessing community-building and academic success programs to support and guide low income, first generation and under-represented student populations at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF). The position supervises staff and student personnel, works directly with the Division of Student Success staff, Academic Affairs staff, university faculty, administrators, and community members to retain and graduate under-represented minority students, paying particular attention to closing the retention and graduation equity gaps at UWRF. Some nights and weekends are required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum:
Master's degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field.
5 years of experience in student services in a higher education setting.
2 years of experience leading and/or supervising.
Demonstrated experience in building and advancing student-centered diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively and problem-solving with multiple stakeholders including but not limited to students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
Demonstrated experience in implementing, managing, and completing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Preferred:
Experience in the development of diversity plans and reports.
Certification and/or training in areas of /Intercultural Awareness/Diversity.
