The Academic Success Coach (ASC) is a full-time staff professional at the Miami Regional Campuses with a focus on learning strategies programming, peer navigation program, student readiness programming, summer support programs, and college readiness programming.
Duties/Physical Demands:
The ASC will supervise, train, and provide professional development for part-time instructors teaching student success courses. Instruct up to 4-6 credits of student success courses per year. Coordinate summer and winter term academic support programming, including ASPIRE and College Readiness. Chair a committee of other student services staff to review, revise, and update the first-year experience curriculum (UNV 101) and content annually per new research and best practices, alignment with main campus curriculum and content, and University and divisional priorities and initiatives.
Collaborate with Regional Academic Advising on UNV 101 staffing plans. Facilitate summer and winter training of first-year experience (UNV 101) instructors and host weekly meetings with instructors during semesters. Coordinate a Miami Regionals Peer Navigator program to help new college students navigate their transition and first semester of college classes, including recruitment, training, ongoing support, and high-level supervision. Maintain and enhance the utilization of EAB-Navigate for student success initiatives.

Master’s degree and two years of experience working in a student support capacity, such as advising, academic coaching or tutoring, first-year experience programming.
Desired Qualifications:
Consideration may be given to applicants with knowledge of BannerWeb, EAB/Navigate, and Canvas. Experience with curriculum development and teaching First Year Experience courses. Experience working with underrepresented students at risk of not completing a college education. Proficiency in Google/Gmail applications, Microsoft Office Suite of applications, and a basic knowledge of social media. Knowledge of and proficiency with college retention and student success ongoing research and the evolution of best practices.
