The Program Fellow would report to the Deputy Director and support cross-program administrative initiatives. They would work closely with the Directors of Programs and the Manager of Student Development and Evaluation of programming and events. The Program Fellow will collaborate with PBHA's Non-Profit Management Fellows on program-related communication and student volunteer recruitment. The Program Fellow's work would center on three key areas: Program Team Administrative Capacity, Community Engagement Support, Volunteer recruitment, engagement, and retention.
Beyond the PBHA staff team, the fellow would work with the PBH staff to support student engagement through shared communication efforts and logistical support for department programming focused on student recruiting and engagement.
Position Description
Program Team Admisitrative Support
Provide administrative support for program team including project management of cross program initiatives
Assist the Deputy Director in setting and planning program steam meetings
Assist the Deputy Director and Department Administrator to support junior counselor onboarding
Support logistics for team retreats and meetings
Provide logistical support to programming events including but not limited to: the Public Service Celebration, Youth Halloween Party, and the Youth Holiday Party
Provide administrative support to the Chan Stride Scholarship Program. The program provides opportunities for training and reflection to income eligible students who are committed to 8-20 hours per week of service. Program Fellow 40% APRIL 2017 would provide support for monthly program meetings (food, space, materials, invoices for consultants/trainers) o Additional administrative support at Chan Stride will allow for greater alumni and community partner involvement
Work with Director of Programs and Manager of Student Development and Assessment to support logistics for SUP Senior Counselor Training, two and a half to three weeks of staff training (room bookings, materials, attendance, food)
Support logistics for the Summer Urban Program director training sessions
Provide project management/ administrative support for cross-organizational initiatives that are overseen by the Deputy Director
Community Engagement Support:
Serve as a Project Coordinator for SUP Camper Enrollment
Serve as a representative of PBHA at community events (focus on opportunities to recruit volunteers and participants)
Serve as the primary coach for the Student Community Organizing Chair to achieve their annual goals o Community Cabinet (one evening of reflection with community leaders held at PBH) o Through the Gates (annual community kick off event. PBHA staff lead tours of partner communities for incoming student volunteers) o Increase community engagement through director training and goal setting sessions o Maintain and community calendar with student leaders
Partner with the PBHA Non -Profit Management Fellow to liase between PBHA's Program Leadership and PBHA's Communication Committee to support organizational communication re: community events & partnership opportunities
Develop virtual resources of relevant community history.
Volunteer Recruitment, Engagement & Retention
Steward first year engagement strategy o Liaison with PBH department staff working on communication and recruiting o Coordinate new first year relational building initiatives including
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor Degree required
1-3 years experience in a non-profit community based organization
Additional Qualifications and Skills
This position is intended to be a sister position to the PBHA Non-Profit Management Fellow. Working in parallel to support the administrative needs of the programming team at PBHA.
Knowledge of the public service landscape at Harvard College and PBHA is a plus.
A previously demonstrated commitment to public service is essential.
A strong candidate will either already have a foundational knowledge of the organizational structure and decision-making process at PBHA or must be willing to learn about and demonstrate a deep interest in PBHA's history and current strategic priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
A strong candidate will also show flexibility for and an understanding of the time-sensitive and situational needs and priorities that frequently arise in any non-profit work environment.
Strong skill sets in the following areas are strongly preferred: written and oral communication, planning and organization, ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituents, ability to work independently on complex projects, ability to multitask and meet deadlines, and willingness to work with a small, close-knit team. Knowledge of salesforce and driver license are preferred

The office is the primary setting for this position. Meeting with community partners, site visits, and program events will occur off-site.
