Hopkins Athletics is multidivisional department with 22 programs competing at the NCAA DIII level and two programs (men's and women's lacrosse) competing at the NCAA Division I level (BIG 10 Conference). The department also hosts a variety of robust recreational activities such as club sports, intramurals, and fitness programming.
In the summer of 2021, the department completed a $27 million dollar renovation and expansion of the Ralph S. O'Connor Center for Recreation and Well-Being. This facility will feature all new state-of-the-art equipment for strength and cardiovascular training, expanded group exercise offerings, and mindfulness and meditation programming. The focus is on fostering holistic student health and a community of care. In addition, The Bill Starr Varsity Weight Room also underwent a complete renovation in 2021 by adding an additional 3,800 square feet of team and individual student-athlete training space. This investment will include all new training equipment, a nutrition station, and the latest in performance technology.
The Hopkins Athletics department seeks an innovative and forward-thinking Assistant Athletic Trainer. The athletic trainer must operate within the framework of a best-in-class athletic department at Johns Hopkins University. Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the clinical and administrative responsibilities associated with the delivery of athletic training services to varsity student-athletes in the Department of Athletics and Recreation including the prevention, assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation, and education of athletic injuries and conditions affecting student-athletes.
Directs clinical and administrative responsibilities with specific teams, including maintaining appropriate documentation and record keeping as well as daily communication with coaches, staff, team physicians, and administrators as needed.
Assists with the supervision of Undergraduate Student Assistants.
Participates in Student Athletic Training in-services for purposes of student athletic training skill training.
Maintains Professional Certification and License as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification and State of Maryland.
Administrative responsibilities and other duties for the athletic training department as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training or Masters Degree in Athletic Training from an accredited athletic training program required.
BOC Certified Athletic Trainer.
Maryland Licensed Athletic Trainer (or eligible to become licensed in the state of Maryland by date of employment)
Current CPR/AED Certification (Instructor preferred)
Familiarity with NCAA governing rules.
BLS certification preferred.
2 years in a college setting preferred.
