Job Title: Director of Vincentian Service and Social Justice
Campus: Queens Job Summary:
The Director of Vincentian Service and Social Justice on the Queens campus has a strong academic and logistics background in the facilitation of Vincentian service, reflection, and direction with young adults. The Director must possess a strong capacity to develop and lead a variety of activities in the areas of leadership, service, and social justice, as well as an ability to collaborate and develop relationships with external and internal constituencies. The Director of Vincentian Service and Social Justice will assist in developing and implementing action-oriented programs that uncovers and remediates structures or patterns that may perpetuate or cause inequities that suffer from persistent poverty. This position is responsible for the leadership and vision in areas pertaining to Catholic Relief Services, Social Justice, Domestic and International service immersion, student leadership development and Vincentian Service. The following employee(s) report to this position: Assistant Director for Vincentian Service & Residence Ministry. Essential Functions:
Supervise the Assistant Director for Vincentian Service and Residence Ministry and the Assistant Director of Social Justice to support and assist with the facilitation, development, and implementation of weekly service, service immersion efforts and justice programming and efforts; Monitor budget for programs and projects that are facilitated-out-of-responsible program areas
Serve as the co-chair of the CRS Global Campus Committee, ensuring the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Catholic Relief Services are met
Serve as moderator for CRS Ambassadors;
Develop and inventory (mapping) the University community partnerships for/within Colleges and Departments;
Work with Director of AS-L to identify needs of community partners that can connect faculty and course objectives with AS-L projects; as well as other University resources;
Develop assessment tools and models that enable Vincentian Service & Justice programming to influence social justice policies, practices, research, and tools to dismantle barriers to full participation that counter and remove oppression, and that address poverty and exclusion both inside and outside the University.
Chair of University Service Committee
Assess and develop Vincentian service and justice efforts within the department of V.I.S.A., and within the university to ensure there is a connection and facilitation of true Vincentian service, unique to the institution (i.e. University Service Day, Vincentian Service reflection, etc);
Provide required reports, as directed by the ED for VISA in support of requests from the AVP for Mission and Ministry, the Board of Trustees, etc;
Provide support to the Executive Director for the Vincentian Institute for Social Action (VISA) regarding special projects research participation and presentation opportunities at national conferences to promote program research, and other duties as assigned as well as
Serve as I.S.A. representation on special committees, as deemed necessary by the Executive Director for the Vincentian Institute for Social Action (VISA)

This position requires:
Firm understanding of and commitment to the Catholic and Vincentian components of the University's Mission; strong interest in poverty alleviation, social justice, and community service in a post-secondary environment preferred;

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages one employee and supports 8 part-time graduate-level employees in the Vincentian Institute for Social Action (VISA). This position in the VISA department is responsible for the hiring, onboarding, and performance management of this/ese employees within the department. Work Environment

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. However, in collaboration with the Executive Director for the Vincentian Institute for Social Action (VISA), these hours can be adjusted as this position often requires evening and weekend hours.
