The Executive Director of Career Services and Experiential Learning is responsible for the strategic direction of the Career Services function. The Executive Director is responsible for defining the business processes, policies, and procedures, providing vision and collaborative support across the Career Services spectrum; and providing best practices, standards, methodologies, tools, and shared learning to achieve the unit's goals. The Executive director oversees and coordinates all Career Development programs and activities to ensure that students and alumni are given opportunities to explore and select career options and acquire work-related experiences to maximize college to career success.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The Office of Career Services (OCS) provides innovative, comprehensive, and progressive interdisciplinary programs, services, and resources to assist the University's 13,000+ undergraduate and graduate students and recent alumni in launching their careers. Career Services is customer-focused and centralizes the functions of career development/counseling, full-time employment, on-campus student employment, summer internships, cooperative education, and part-time employment. The OCS brings 1200+ employers to campus and shares more than 15,000 position announcements yearly. Individuals formally enrolled in a degree-granting program at the University, or alumni, are eligible to use the facilities, programs, and services.

Requirements:
Master's degree in human resources, student personnel, adult education, business administration (MBA), or a related field. Five plus years of full-time experience in career services or workforce development with a minimum of five years of experience in supervision and leadership. Essential knowledge and capabilities include career counseling techniques, knowledge of job trends and career development skills, effective public relations and networking abilities, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Must effectively direct existing, comprehensive career services programs and develop new initiatives. Dependability, creativity, good judgment, professionalism, and dedication to sound principles of student development are paramount. Experience using career services applications (i.e., NACELink, Handshake, C3M), legal and ethical issues, and Microsoft Office Suite are essential.
Preferred:
Master's degree in human resources, student personnel, adult education, business administration (MBA), or a related field with ten-plus years of experience in career services or workforce development with seven years of career-related workshop/seminar development and training. plus a minimum of seven years of experience in supervision and leadership. Self-directed, creative, and service-oriented with strong leadership skills. Experience developing policies and procedures as well as experience using career services software applications.
Knowledgeable in the use of the latest technology and trends in Career Services.
Knowledgeable of career development, career counseling, job search strategies, job market trends, employer relations, contemporary recruitment practices, and/or trends in career services, recruitment, or workforce development.
