Job DescriptionFiscal and Operations Specialist
The Fiscal and Operations Specialist serves a key role in the fiscal, procurement, communications, and events-related activities of the Student Affairs Business Service Center (SABSC). This position is responsible for:
- Managing and monitoring the accurate and timely processing of all transactions
- Responding to incoming requests, inquiries, and ensuring follow-up and resolution
- Assisting the Business Manager with the production of financial assessments, reports, and financial transactions support
- Providing services to Student Affairs departments, and to students involved with the Undergraduate Government of Boston College (UGBC), the Student Organization Funding Committee (SOFC), and registered student organizations (RSOs), including transactional support, reporting, and problem-solving across a wide variety of service center operations and services
- Assisting with the development and production of communication materials, including interacting with other related university departments and outside vendors to ensure consistent internal and external messaging of the SABSC
This position will have supervisory responsibilities and fully support the Business Manager in the SABSC tracking and assignment of work.
To be successful in this position qualified candidates must:
- Make sound decisions, exercises good judgment, and examines issues in new ways
- Prioritize daily workflow independently
- Have the ability to approve all transactions originated by staff which includes all graduate assistants and newly hired center staff
- Research and resolve a variety of administrative, fiscal, and operations issues
- Assess workflow, operations, make recommendations to improve effectiveness, and ensure continual improvement to meet goals and expectations
- Understand and interpret university policies and procedures daily while simultaneously applying the procedures of the service center
In order to create a more inclusive community within the Division of Student Affairs, each staff member is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $45,450 to $56,800; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in a related field is required
- Three or more years fiscal and administrative experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Understanding of or demonstrated aptitude for budgetary and financial concepts is essential, preferably in higher education
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Previous experience in a customer service environment essential
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and project management skills
- Functional use of PeopleSoft Financial system, Microsoft Suite and Google Suite of applications
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and project management skills
- Ability to recognize and effectively balance the differing needs of students and staff in multiple departments
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
- Willingness to adapt to a changing environment and ability to staying abreast of changes in industry and apply those changes to improve operations and productivity
