Assistant Director is responsible for the overall management of the new student transition process. This position provides year-round support to first-year student initiatives. Additionally, the Assistant Director gives support to the Office of Student Engagement for student leader development, student activities board (SAB) event management, assessment and social media outreach. This position is responsible for the hiring of the student Orientation Leaders each year. The Assistant Director reports to the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and assess structure that supports the student transition process with particular attention to New Student Orientation and Welcome Weekend. This includes working with campus partners to streamline and coordinate first year student initiatives across campus.
Support the Office of Student Engagement initiative around student leadership, SAB event management, and social media outreach for the Office of Student Engagement.
Assist the Assistant Dean to manage the budget for all accounts associated with Orientation. Establish and implement necessary structure to assure compliance with University policies.
The Assistant Director will recruit, train and manage scheduling and compensation for the student Orientation Leaders on an annual basis.
Assist the Assistant Vice president and Director of Student Services and Information Systems in divisional assessment projects.
Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree with 1-3 years of professional experience in student services at a college or university setting, specifically with experience in planning/implementing new student orientation programs and activities, development and assessment of student programming.
