Job Summary:
The Associate Director supervises a team of professionals that utilizes technology to implement of state-of-the-art, signature programming connecting students to career opportunities. Specifically, this position creates a strategy to effectively offer both in-person and virtual engagements to students through campus information sessions, career fairs, and interviews, and the management of job and internship postings. The role will develop and oversee collaborative relationships with campus departments to leverage key event spaces and provide efficiencies around systems for room reservation management. The Associate Director supervises a team that creates policies, processes, and procedures around databases and technology platforms that are shared across multiple departments and units. Timely updates and educational training to ensure technology platforms are used consistently, in compliance, and to their full capabilities will be offered to both NCA and other university career services staff.
Specific Responsibilities:
Administration
Oversees strategic direction of state-of-the-art, cutting-edge programs designed to assist students to manage their academic experiences.
Creates and manages administrative process and practices ensuring the seamless flow of work and services.
Operationalizes goals and objectives; ensures that resources are created or obtained.
Manages customer service; creates associated practices and procedures and metrics to measure success.
Researches state-of-the-art enhancements, market/economic conditions and implements changes that improve resources and services.
Technology
Manages technology ensuring that resources and services are delivered using best practices.
Ensures necessary hardware, software and network infrastructure services are obtained and implemented.
Participates in developing IT strategy to meet the mission and needs of program.
Relationships
Partners with internal/external departments, faculty, alumni and employers to identify career pathways and create an outreach plan to engage organizations that will result in opportunities spanning a broad range of industries and geographies.
Identifies opportunities and develops strategies for connecting students with alumni and industry experts who will provide academic and/or career resources such as mentoring, coaching, lectures, workshops etc.
Marketing/Public Relations
Interacts with internal/external resources and organizations to identify new resources and opportunities to improve program.
Compliance
Manages compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and NU laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Develops the creation and/or implementation of associated training.
Manages submission of applicable documents.
Supervisory Duties
Supervises 1-2 staff.
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 5 years' career counseling/advising in higher education or 5 years' of industry experience; or other relevant experience required; OR
Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or JD or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 4 years' career counseling/advising in higher education or 4 years' of industry experience; or other relevant experience required.
